While Downton Abbey doesn’t return until 2013, PBS just released a new clip to hold fans over. In the season three teaser, the Granthams have a dinner discussion about the forthcoming arrival of Lady Cora’s mother, played by Shirley MacLaine. “I’m so looking forward to seeing your mother again, when I’m with her I’m reminded of the virtues of the English,” the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) quips to Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern). Matthew (Dan Stevens) then replies: “But isn’t she American?” “Exactly,” the Countess deadpans. View the entire clip above, then tune into PBS on January 6, 2013 for new episodes of the 16-time Emmy nominationed show.

Plus, get to know the entire cast in the gallery!
