Mad Men’s Jessica Paré Talks About the Candy-Fashion Balancing Act
Aug 12, 2012 @ 9:00 amWhile Mad Men’s Jessica Paré loves fashion—she counts Jason Wu among her designer pals—she loves candy equally as much. “I am a fan!” the actress (in head-to-toe Jason Wu) excitingly told us while perusing the candy corner at InStyle’s annual Summer Soiree this week, shown inset. “I am vegetarian and I don’t eat wheat, but candy is neither of those things.” And she doesn’t mind indulging once in a while. “If I am shooting [Mad Men] then I care about breathing,” she joked. “But if I’m at a fashion event, then I don’t care, and I don’t need to breath or feel my toes.” So relatable—we’re charmed!

I love fashion, but I also like to breath and feel my toes. Why are women taught we have to sacrifice for beauty? Here, wear these shoes that will kill your back; don’t eat so you look like a toothpick; wear clothes you can’t breath in, and shoes you can’t walk in. While we’re at it, let’s just try Chinese foot binding. And while we’re on the subject of Ms. Pare, she might want to review her high school grammar. “I am vegetarian and I don’t eat wheat, but candy is neither of those things.” So candy is NOT vegetarian? What is she having, bacon jelly bellies?
