It’s a very different Olympics for two-time defending Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor. Not only did they lose their first Olympics set ever last night against Austria (but they won the match overall), they’re also skipping the bikinis this time around in favor of spandex pants and long-sleeve tops. And not because of a rule that says they can, but rather because it’s just cold out there! The athletes are playing outside in the middle of the Horse Guards Parade, and the temperatures in London are in the 60s and 70s all week. Quite the difference from the white sporty two-pieces they wore in Beijing four years ago! Continue to watch the terrific twosome advance; more games are scheduled this week.

Plus, all the details on their necklaces!

To be honest, that is the ONLY reason to watch that sport.
It’s BEACH volleyball. If women are not allowed to wear BEACH
attire then MEN should NOT be allowed to either.
Oh yeah, watch the viewing ratings go WAY DOWN and people who follow
the sport won’t be able to watch it anymore on television. (WIN WIN)

The Olympic committee are a bunch of idiots, this is suppose to be beach volley ball, next they will make the swimmers and drivers start wearing wet suites or going back to 1910 swim wear so they don’t show to much skin. How by the way spandex should not be used by the wrestlers, it reveals to much.

Folks,

If you actually READ the article, it states that the bikini is OPTIONAL, and this pair only did so do to the cold. You can ogle the girls again when the weather is warmer.

Jeez.

Good grief. I thought we were going to read that bikinis have been banned from the next Olympics. But instead???? It is talking about London. Then, of course, we have a dozen people complaining about the “banning” of bikinis. I had to go back and read to see what I missed. I didn’t miss anything. Seems most responders did though. This, if it had been true, would have been top world news, along with the banning of Wrestling from the Olympics. It wasn’t, It isn’t, thankfully.
How dumb would it be to have a beach sport in long pants?

The sport just won’t be the same this year.
I hate cold or cool weather.
This gives me another reason to hate low temps even more.
