Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery: Emmy Night Fashion Prediction

Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) is nominated for a Best Actress Emmy, which she found out live, watching the video stream in her publicist’s office early in the morning. “It was wonderful,” she told InStyle.com at a Beverly Hills reception for the show. And she even got to be the one to spread the good news to her castmate Joanne Froggatt, who’s nominated for a Best Supporting Actress statuette. “She hadn’t heard,” Dockery said. ”Mary got to tell Anna that she got an Emmy nomination. It’s wonderful. I’m thrilled.” While the 30-year-old Brit hasn’t decided on her Emmys look just yet, she did drop a few hints. “I tend to champion British designers,” she said. “I’m a big fan of Erdem. He’s a new British designer. I love Burberry.” While the actress doesn’t always use a stylist, she assured us, “I’m often confident in what I decide upon.” Just like Lady Mary! Demi Lovato’s High Wrapped Ponytail: From Runway to Reality

The high ponytail Demi Lovato wore to host the Teen Choice Awards had some high-fashion inspiration—straight off the runway of Jason Wu’s fall 2012 show. While Lovato’s avant-garde style is suited for the red carpet (and for showing off extensions), you can recreate the look in a more everyday version by shortening the length of the pony wrap. To start, use the natural line of your cheekbone as a guide when sweeping straight, glossy strands back. If in doubt, aim higher. Tie off the style with an elastic, then wrap a black bandeau headband around the ponytail to create the same effect (try L.Erickson’s style for $16 at franceluxe.com). But be sure not to secure hair too tightly—a super-taut pony stresses hair follicles, which can lead to breakage.

If you want to create a similar look, make like the singer and layer your products for extra staying power. “I start with a matte lipstick that’s really dry, then I put a more moist, creamy lipstick on top,” the star once told InStyle. “And my trick for not getting it on my teeth?
