Mermaids are having a major moment! From the fake mermaid documentary that fooled Animal Planet viewers this weekend, to Ariel-worthy tail swimsuits, the mythical creatures are making a splash. And even though the United States government even confirmed this month that “no evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found,” mermaids are real on the red carpet, with celebrities including Naomi Watts, Gwen Stefani, Sofia Vergara, Beyonce working mermaid-style gowns.
