Get the Look: Jessica Biel’s Retro Ponytail

At the 2012 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, InStyle‘s August cover girl Jessica Biel sported a chic ponytail with a retro twist. We loved the look so much, that we caught up with her hairstylist Mara Roszak to get step-by-step instructions on how to recreate it! Roszak added Phyto’s Phytovolume Actif Spray ($35; sephora.com) to Biel’s damp hair before blowing it out with a round brush. “I usually like to blow-dry the bangs first when they are still damp because they’re easier to manipulate,” she advised. She then put sections into pin curls, and used a mist of Moroccanoil Hairspray Light ($21; moroccanoil.com for locations) to set the style. After gently brushing out the ringlets, Roszak teased the crown and swept Biel’s strands back into a ponytail. A final spritz of hairspray secured the look. Perfect!
