Now Available: Chanel’s India-Inspired Makeup Collection

Jun 28, 2012 @ 5:30 pm

Chanel looked to India to inspire its latest set of must-have products for its new makeup lineup, Bombay Express De Chanel. The collection includes a sheer nude lip shine, dramatic black eye shadow, a delicate metallic nail polish, and a shimmery illuminator, the latter of which boasts some interesting history. The palette has the same pattern as the fabric used in one of Gabrielle Chanel’s collections from the ‘60s, and we love how it mirrors the intricate paisley print seen on Chanel’s pre-fall runway. See the entire collection in our gallery, and shop the products at chanel.com now.

First Look: Kristi Yamaguchi’s Activewear Line

Jun 28, 2012 @ 5:11 pm

Kristi Yamaguchi‘s passion for fitness goes way beyond the ice rink! The gold-medal-winning figure skater is launching a new line of activewear, called Tsu.ya. “I’ve been an athlete all my life, and I wanted my clothes to transition from the gym to being a busy mom, running errands, and spending time with my kids,” Yamaguchi told InStyle.com. “I wanted something comfortable, but functional and fashionable, too.” The 18-piece lineup includes yoga pants, tanks, and jackets ranging in price from $40 to $150, and a portion of the proceeds go to the skater’s Always Dream Foundation, which works on improving early childhood literacy. Shop the collection when it debuts at Lord & Taylor stores this September.

Princess Charlene of Monaco loves Akris! The royal has turned to the 90-year-old family-owned Swiss label for some of her most memorable fashion moments, from her 2012 Oscars gown to her race car-print Grand Prix shift. “When I design a collection I always think of her,” Akris designer Albert Kriemler told InStyle.com at the New York City launch of Akris, a book celebrating the brand’s heritage (Assouline, August 2012), held at Bergdorf Goodman. “It’s wonderful. When I design clothes I truly develop something that is appropriate for her and appropriate for the occasion she needs something for.” And he loves the relationship the pair have cultivated. “It’s the first time that I have so precisely worked for a woman I got to know over the last year, and that makes it very special.” We think so, too! Click through the gallery for Kriemler’s thoughts on more of the royal’s most memorable Akris moments.

First Look: Disney’s Villains Designer Beauty Collection

Jun 28, 2012 @ 3:05 pm

Who knew being evil could look so good? This August, Disney will release a four-piece cosmetic line featuring hues inspired by the evil villains you love to hate. Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Snow White’s Evil Queen are among the evildoers on each of the products, which include a lip gloss set, six libertine nail polishes, a bold eye shadow palette, and an enchanting mirror (of course!). And this isn’t the first foray these nefarious characters have taken into beauty—in 2010, Disney collaborated with MAC to release a limited-edition, very successful Venomous Villains line. Get a sneak peek at the new Disney products in the gallery.
