Filmmaker and author Nora Ephron died last night at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of some of the most-loved romantic comedies in movie history. The three-time Oscar nominee paved the way for female screenwriters and directors, and helped propel Meg Ryan to America’s Sweetheart status with hit films like When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, and You’ve Got Mail.
