That’s a lot of leg! While showing skin has always been a red carpet staple, there’s one flash of flesh happening more often lately—sexy thigh-high slits. This look is one that spans all ages and body types, from Freida Pinto (in Michael Angel) to Jada Pinkett-Smith (in Versace). And Angelina Jolie broke new ground with her leg-popping pose at the Oscars in black velvet Versace, which set off an Internet meme of “Angie’s Right Leg”—complete with its own Twitter handle. So, what’s the appeal? “Thigh-high slits are instant sexy,” celebrity stylist Brad Goreski told InStyle.com. “You can be wearing something that is not overtly sexy, but once you get the element of surprise of seeing so much skin, then it’s definitely an immediate way to get a response. Julianne Hough, who recently revealed her dancer’s legs in a thigh-high Michael Kors gown, agreed. “The slit is sexy, and you’ve got to pull a little sex.” While balancing the rest with more demure accents (like Pinto’s peplum)—these girls get it just right! Click through the gallery to see dozens more designs featuring this ultimate sex factor.
