Today is World Blood Donor Day, and Niki Taylor has made it her mission to get people to roll up their sleeves and give back. This year, the model is the face of Nexcare and the American Red Cross‘s “Giving Blood is Timeless” bandages, which are available for free on Nexcare’s Facebook page. “They represent past fashion trends,” Taylor told InStyle.com of the stickies, which range from polka dots for the ’50s to grungy plaid for the ’90s and beyond. Giving blood is a cause close to Taylor’s heart—In 2001, a blood transfusion saved her life after a near-fatal car crash. Now, the mom of four makes donating a family event. “It’s become a tradition,” she said. “Me and my boys go every year.” To start your own tradition, find an American Red Cross location or your nearest blood center to donate.
