Summer makeup should be fuss-free, and that means some of your winter and fall beauty staples won’t stand up to the heat. Case in point: Heavy, matte lip colors and high shine glosses can feel too dramatic, so opt for a long-wearing berry stain like Kate Bosworth’s instead. Her makeup artist Amy Nadine started using Tarte’s Lip Tints ($24; tartecosmetics.com) after another client, actress Krysten Ritter, wanted to find an alternative to lip glosses and lipsticks. While Rachel Zoe is waiting for Karl Lagerfeld to give her two thumbs up, another megastar is already on her list of fans: Halle Berry. “I have to tell you, she’s got shoes right now that I just really love,” Berry told us at a recent Revlon launch event. “I have a pair of sandals, and three pairs of heels. I’m recovering from a broken foot, and a platform is the only shoe I feel comfortable in and she’s got some amazing platforms.” Berry also owns the Joni Hobo, seen here. “I’m loving her stuff,” Berry said. And the love is mutual! “I am honestly speechless,” Zoe told us at the CFDA Awards, when we mentioned Halle Berry was a fan of her line. “She is so beautiful and so brilliant and she’s so kind to wear it and I am so hugely honored.” That’s some serious sartorial love!

Sarah Jessica Parker and Jane Seymour had a charitable night at the The Pierre Hotel in New York City, where the two actresses attended the Alzheimer’s Association‘s annual Forget Me Not Gala: An Evening To End Alzheimer’s. “Thanks to all who made last night’s gala a huge success!” the non-profit tweeted. Parker paired her L’Wren Scott dress with a YSL jacket, Fred Leighton jewels, and Manolo Blahnik shoes, while Seymour chose an ivory halter gown with silver beaded waist and neckline by Pamella Roland. Between rising temps outside and chilly A/C inside, dressing for the office in the summer is a tricky business. One of our go-to looks for the 9-to-5 grind? An easy-to-wear dress. Try adding a pop of color with your pumps like Emmy Rossum or a shirtdress in classic khaki like Kate Bosworth. See more celebrity-inspired, office-ready looks for summer in the gallery.
This just in: The sparkly Armani gown Adele wore to scoop up her six Grammy Awards was a last-minute decision! And it’s all thanks to a too-tight corset that made her change her mind. “I actually had another dress made and I ended up passing out in it,” the British powerhouse told Matt Lauer in an interview that aired last night. “I was like, ‘I can’t wear that,’ so I ended up wearing [the Armani] instead.” And that wasn’t her only Grammys dress secret: “I had three or four pairs of Spanx on that night, but I loved [the dress].” Looks like we weren’t alone in helping Spanx creator Sarah Blakely become the youngest self-made female billionaire! We loved Krysten Ritter’s soft pink lip at the Hollywood premiere of True Blood’s fifth season, so we tracked down the exact shade! To create the star’s sheer pout, Ritter’s makeup artist Amy Nadine used a swipe of Bite Beauty’s Lush Lip Tint in Watermelon. “Krysten’s vintage McQueen dress made such a strong statement that lipstick would have looked too made-up,” Nadine told InStyle.com exclusively. “So, I opted for a light purpley-pink lip balm to give a hint of color without overpowering her.” The tint has a satiny texture so it won’t dry your lips, and the white center is infused with resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine that combats signs of aging. Pick one up for $24 at sephora.com.
