Bonjour, Cannes! The 65th annual Cannes Film Festival is upon us, and not only is the event a great place for new films to make a big splash in front of a global audience, it’s also one of the hottest red carpets of the year. So far, we’ve spotted Freida Pinto in Michael Angel, Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli, Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen, and Eva Longoria in Marchesa. Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere Go Country and More!

Connie Britton (in Akris) and Hayden Panettiere (in Moschino) stopped by ABC Upfronts VIP Party hosted by Entertainment Weekly in New York, where they gave us clues about their characters’ style for their new country music-centric TV series, Nashville. “I got to wear the most amazing wardrobe,” Britton told InStyle.com. “How often do you get to play a character who wears these gowns and then these cowboy boots, all in a two-week span?” Panettiere also admitted to loving the show’s wardrobe. “It’s country, baby!” she said. “It can be flashy, blingy, sweet.” Catch Nashville this fall on ABC, and see more stars at last night’s hottest events in the gallery.

Lea Michele’s Bangs and Beachy Waves Combo: Get the Look

The bangs and beachy waves combo is one Lea Michele effortlessly mastered, especially this week at a FOX Upfront event in New York City. And it’s a look her hairstylist Sarah Potempa chose carefully. “With Lea’s bangs, this style helps to add volume and texture, and the bouncy waves draw attention to her eyes,” Potempa told InStyle.com. To create the look, Potempa separated the Glee star’s strands into two sections, split each into three horizontal rows, and used her self-rotating Beachwaver ($199; sarahpotempa.com) to create the soft waves. For the finishing touch, she adds: “Remember to wait until both sides have cooled before running fingers through your hair. With this kind of pattern, it needs to stay in that shape until your hair cools.”

Smash Star Katharine McPhee Makes InStyle’s Sexy List

Katharine McPhee is such a Smash that she is one of the lucky twelve to make our “Sexy Dozen” list (which also includes Ewan McGregor) for InStyle‘s new June issue. And we’ve just released footage of the steamy shoot! Go behind-the-scenes of the Smash star’s boxing ring-side photos, and see the actress knock out some seriously sultry poses (Marilyn would be proud). “To me, Marilyn Monroe was sexiest when she wasn’t aware of it—it just came from within,” said McPhee, who portrays the blonde bombshell on the NBC hit show.
