Chanel’s Peridot Nail Lacquer was an instant hit after launching last fall, and we can see why! The dynamic green is basically a mood ring in a bottle, and the teal and gold shimmer gives each nail a different look depending where the light hits. Now, other companies are following suit and releasing similar lacquers with a dynamic shimmer effect. The new metallic chrome colors range from subtle neutrals to high-impact purples. An all-new Revenge aired last night, and Ashley (Ashley Madekewe) made a surprising decision, leaving her job as Victoria’s assistant for a position with Benjamin Brooks, the Grayson family lawyer. For her resignation moment, she chose an emerald green dress by L’Agence, and black spiked Burberry ankle boots. “I couldn’t picture her wearing any other shoes,” Madekwe told InStyle.com. “These boots were made for walking!” While her decision may have been short-lived—Brooks said her behavior during Daniel’s trail cost her the job—her outfit did leave a lasting impression. Steal Ashley’s style: A similar L’Agence dress is available in printed twill ($325, net-a-porter.com) and fitted scoop neck ($373, barneys.com).

Donna Karan is famous for her body-conscious draping (case in point: her fall 2012 collection, seen here), so when we caught up with the designer at a benefit for her alma mater, Parsons The New School of Design, we were shocked to learn that she wasn’t always such a fabric pro. “I failed draping,” Karan told us. “It’s my metaphor: Donna Karan failed draping!” The designer also shared some tips for any aspiring fashion star: “Work in retail. It’s the only way you really get to understand what you’re doing and what your job is.” Good advice!

Jennifer Lopez took a break from her American Idol uniform of Gucci and Lanvin to show some support for up-and-coming Australian womenswear designer Yeojin Bae. For last night’s episode, Lopez chose Bae’s curve-hugging mesh inset dress in a vibrant tomato red. “Jennifer Lopez looks stunning,” Bae tweeted. The 37-year-old designer honed her skills at Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui before launching her own line in 2006, and now her tailored, feminine pieces are sold at Barneys and Henri Bendel, as well as on her website, yeojinbae.com.

New York-based designer Naeem Khan enjoyed some one-on-one time with his star fans at a private dinner he hosted at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The designer, shown with Angie Harmon, dressed each of the attendees in one of his creations: Jordana Brewster in a taupe and turquoise printed pleated number, Ellie Kemper in an olive and sand dropped-waist crystal beaded dress, Harmon in a turquoise chiffon and lace embroidered caftan, The Help star Ahna O’Reilly in a white faille dress with gold circle lace-applique, and Julie Bowen in a sleeveless ostrich feather mini. It was an especially special evening for The Office and Bridesmaids star Kemper, who celebrated her 32nd birthday yesterday. See more stars at last night’s hottest events in the gallery.
