The Lucky One’s Taylor Schilling: What to Wear to Romance Zac Efron

Apr 20, 2012 @ 12:30 pm

The Lucky One hits theaters today! Taylor Schilling stars opposite Zac Efron in Nicholas Sparks’ latest novel-turned-film, and to celebrate the tearjerker’s premiere, we caught up with actress to talk about her on-screen style. “When I was working with the film’s stylist Dayna Pink we were really able to keep it beautifully true to a single working mom and what would be realistic for her,” Schilling said of her wardrobe. “It was a thrill to keep it close to reality.” The 27-year-old star wasn’t the only stylish one on set. “Zac Efron is a really fashionable man,” Schilling told us. “He knows what’s up. He’s got it together in a very casual, under-the-radar way.” Click through the gallery for more of Schilling’s take on her Lucky One style.

Earth Day 2012: Mariska Hargitay’s Eco-Friendly Highlights

Apr 20, 2012 @ 12:00 pm

Earth Day is Sunday, and one thing we learned: You don’t need a Crayola hue to get greener highlights. Case in point: Colorist Rick Wellman developed Biolights, which uses biodegradable cotton pads to wrap highlights in place of hard-to-recycle aluminum foil—a technology he uses on Mariska Hargitay’s dynamic strands. “The results are more blended and a healthier hair shaft,” Wellman told InStyle.com. “The grow-out is much softer also, as the cotton material adheres exactly where strands are painted.” The organic material disintegrates in less than two weeks, so the technique as gentle on your hair as the environment. The service was developed at New York’s Patrick Melville Salon, and will roll out nationwide soon. For more info, visit biolightscolor.com.

InStyle Honors Jason Wu: Inside the Party!

Apr 20, 2012 @ 11:30 am

Some of Jason Wus faithful celebrity fans—including Ginnifer Goodwin, Gabrielle Union, and Krysten Ritter—were happy to catch some face time with the New York designer during his visit to the City of Angels at a dinner hosted by InStyle last night. “I’m not in Los Angeles all the time,” Wu said at the soiree, which was held in the penthouse of the Soho House in West Hollywood, where Wu-designed candles flickered around the room. “When I’m here, I enjoy meeting the actors and actresses who do such a different form of art than what I do. To be able to work with them now is really special.” See more stars in the gallery.

Jennifer Morrison’s New Red Hair: Do You Like It?

Apr 20, 2012 @ 10:40 am

Jennifer Morrison is a redhead now! The Once Upon a Time actress traded her sunnier hue for a rich, garnet-flecked auburn, a change she made to film her role in the upcoming drama Some Girl(s). “It’s a nice excuse to change things up for a little bit and disappear into a character,” the actress told InStyle.com at a dinner honoring Jason Wu in West Hollywood last night. And even within 48 hours of her dye job, her darker shade has already made an impact. “I often times think no one knows who I am and I just sneak through my life,” she explained. “I’m realizing with the red hair that everybody is like, ‘Ohmygawd! You have red hair!’ People do recognize me!” Tell us: Do you like her look?
