Carolina Herrera’s New Wedding Dress Collection: Our 5 Favorite Looks

Apr 16, 2012 @ 6:10 pm

Inspired by the black-and-white photography of Cecil Beaton, Carolina Herrera’s spring 2013 bridal collection included delicate touches of black. “I wanted to design a collection based on the beauty he portrayed—the blacks, the whites, the fantasy of it all,” Herrera said. “This is not a collection that is occupied by trends, but one with a more personal purpose.” And the designer found new ways to add a personal touch: She accessorized many of the 21 dresses (and one pantsuit) with jewelry from her own collection, and secrectly embroidered the waist of each look with the bride’s initials in blue. See our five favorite looks in the gallery.

Selena Gomez - Blue Smoky EyeKathy Hutchins; RE/Westcom/starmaxinc; CelebrityPhoto

Put this on your To Do list—try a new smoky eye! We loved the modern twists Beth Behrs, Selena Gomez, and Kristen Stewart put on the traditional look by adding a touch of navy. Gomez and Stewart layered deep azure onto a soft black shadow, while 2 Broke Girls star Behrs added an extra swipe of midnight liner to her lower lashline. “This created a gorgeous hint of color that really brought out her eyes,” Behrs’s makeup artist Jamie Greenberg said of the hue, No Place to Run Eyeliner in Indigo Girl by mark ($9 at meetmark.com). So, don’t be afraid to break into your blue shadow—as these ladies prove, all it takes is a few swipes to do the trick.

Apr 16, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

Here’s a way to add a dash of color to your summer wardrobe and give back! Nicole Richie just added a new mint green pyramid necklace to her House of Harlow 1960 lineup, and 20% of sales from the design benefit Baby2Baby, a charity that supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing. “Creating this special necklace was a friendly reminder to not take the basic necessities for granted and especially at Mother’s Day, give love and a gift to those in need,” Richie told InStyle.com.
