Hot Pink Lipstick Works at Any Age

Mar 17, 2012 @ 1:00 pm

Bold lipstick is definitely having a moment, but punchy hues aren’t restricted just to the younger crowd. Julianne Moore recently wore a bright pink lip, and we loved how the 51-year-old actress made the high-octane shade more age-appropriate by pairing it with a neutral eye. The secret to this look, according to the star’s makeup artist Pati Dubroff, is lining lips with a cool rose shade—not a matching bright pencil—before applying lipstick. “A cool pink would be best, as it blends with the lip color, but can be used with other shades as well,” Dubroff told InStyle.com. Hair Accessory to Try Right Now: Satin Headbands

Mar 17, 2012 @ 9:00 am

For a recent event, Freida Pinto accented her low-key updo with a thin ribbon headband. An accessory like this can either make or break your style, so keep it from looking juvenile by steering clear of bold prints. Opt for a solid color with a satin finish to create a modern, grown-up effect. A dark band adds a touch of elegance, while brighter hues add an unexpected pop of color. And no fussy styles here—pair the accessory with either a simple updo like Pinto, or soft strands worn down.
