The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced today that it will honor the actor by naming him Fashion Icon of 2012 for his “personal and eclectic sense of style.” (Last year’s Fashion Icon honor went to Lady Gaga.) Depp will be the first-ever male recipient when the awards take place June 4th in New York City. Tell us: Do you think Depp’s unique look qualifies him as a fashion icon? This Is The Dress Zoe Saldana Felt Safest In

Mar 15, 2012 @ 5:10 pm

If there’s one thing Zoe Saldana learned from her fashion choices, it’s that you have to be fearless. “I have a hard time with intimidation because I’m not usually intimidated,” the actress told us of her style at yesterday’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists Luncheon hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo in Los Angeles. “Not because I’m arrogant. I’m just so focused in my world.” Case in point—her 2009 Oscars dress, which she picked with the help of her stylist, Petra Flannery (inset). “Everybody was expecting that Givenchy outfit to be intimidating because I was wearing something so bold,” she said. “[That dress] was speaking to my heart. I was everything but intimidated. I never felt so safe and confident!” See more of Zoe Saldana’s best outfits ever in the gallery.

Minka Kelly Wears Kate Spade’s Middleton-Inspired ‘Pippa’ Dress

Mar 15, 2012 @ 4:40 pm

Banana Republic isn’t the only retailer to roll out a Middleton-inspired “Pippa” dress this spring. Minka Kelly stopped by the L.A. launch party for Brad Goreski’s new book, Born to Be Brad, in a floral Kate Spade design named for the royal-in-law ($478 at katespade.com). While the style isn’t based on one particular Pippa Middleton look, we could easily see her adding it to her closet full of printed, waist-defining, v-neck dresses.

How the First Ladies Represent Their Countries With Their Clothes

Mar 15, 2012 @ 3:20 pm

British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha Cameron, visited the Obamas in Washington D.C. this week, where the First Ladies represented their countries in a colorful mix clothes by British and American designers. The most interesting fashion moment happened at last night’s White House State Dinner, the culmination of the visit, where Michelle Obama chose a teal, off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown. Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are both British, and the label is based out of New York. Talk about a diplomatic outfit choice! See more of the First Ladies’ patriotic fashion choices in the gallery.

January Jones on Her New Pink Hair: ‘It’s Rose Gold’

Mar 15, 2012 @ 1:35 pm

What compelled January Jones to try pink hair? “It’s just my time to do something different and fun,” the actress told InStyle.com of her brand new look at the fifth season premiere of Mad Men in Los Angeles last night. Jones had originally requested sunnier highlights, but chose the pastel hue at her colorist’s suggestion. “It sounded fun,” she explained. “We decided that they are rose gold highlights. Class it up a bit. I’m on hiatus so I can do what I want to it.” So, will the color stay? “It’s permanent for now,” she said, “until I take it out.” Tell us: Would you try pink?
