During her visit to Leicester, England, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge replaced her typical nude nail polish with peach. We loved the subtle change! Peach lacquers are a great starting point for bright nail novices who want a trendy color that isn’t too severe. When shopping for a color similar to the hue Kate wore, be sure to look for a sheer formula without shimmer, and layer on two to three even coats. Any more than that will create a finish that is too opaque. See our peach nail polish suggestions in the gallery.
Red has long been called the color of love, and science proves it. A psychologist at the University of Rochester released a study that asserts men think women wearing red are more open to advances. “It doesn’t have to be a red dress or a sexy outfit,” the study’s author Adam Pazda told ScienceNow and Wired. “It can be a red T-shirt.” The science comes down to biological primate signals, with the color being one that gives men a “time to make your move” feeling. Banana Republic just made it easier to score Pippa Middleton‘s style. One of the store’s new spring arrivals is this silk “Pippa” dress ($175 at banana republic.com), which boasts a similar neckline to the royal-in-law’s famous Alexander McQueen maid of honor gown. It comes in rich magenta and blue, shades the younger Middleton adores. And this isn’t the first time Banana Republic took some royal inspiration: The retailer also sells a “Kate” sheath dress ($130 at bananarepublic.com), modeled after a khaki bandage Reiss style the Duchess wore to meet President Obama.
