Peplum is popular this year! Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge visited De Montfort University in Leicester, England today wearing a teal dress and fitted peplum jacket by L.K. Bennett, while Blake Lively (in Jason Wu), Jennifer Aniston (in Tom Ford), and Michelle Williams (in Louis Vuitton) also wore the fit-flare style recently. So, why is it such a statement look? “It has the power to minimize your waist but achieves it by inciting a flurry of attention around your hips,” InStyle Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein has said. “This little flourish is worth the risk if it winds up accentuating something positive.” Tell us: Do you own a peplum dress?

I love the peplum trend, but I think you have to be really careful about who is wearing it (considering different body shapes and such). Love this on Jennifer though!
