Feb 26, 2012 @ 7:30 pm

Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams chose a Louis Vuitton dress with a peplum waist for her big night, and played up the strapless neckline with a Fred Leighton for Forevermark necklace that featured 30 carats worth of brilliant-cut diamonds. Fun fact: The dress took over 300 hours to make at the atelier in Paris, the label said in a statement, using silk mousseline and organza ribbons. And the My Week With Marilyn star had to pool her friends to clarify the color. “I’ve been asking everyone what color it is, and they say it’s coral or maybe pomegranate,” she said of the hue. For the record, Louis Vuitton officially called it “burnt orange.” Tell us: Do you like her look?

No. The look is too immature. For 300 hours spent on the dress I’m not impressed. It’s also time to get rid of the Peter Pan look.

Looks childish and the color looks awful on her. Why do these pale actresses have so little knowledge of what colors look good on pale skin?

-Kimm on February 26th, 2012

LOVE it!

-jude on February 27th, 2012

If I was the designer or dressmaker who spent 300 hours making the dress, I would be pretty offended that the person wearing it could not name the color! Very obviously a shade of orange. She obviously has never eaten a pomegranate!!

-Carrie on February 27th, 2012

In my opinion, she would look much more attractive if she ditched that hairstyle. It always makes her look strange, sort of like an alien. It would do the same to a man. It’s just not flattering with her coloring and facial features. Having said that, she and her friends have no idea what colors are. That’s definitely a burnt orange. Thank God the folks at Louis Vuitton know what’s up. And considering they spent 300 hours, I would have expected something much more spectacular. I do think the color looks good on her. I hate it when pale actresses wear something as dull as their coloring. They need to counterbalance their vampirishness. As for olive skinned people like myself, we can wear just about anything. ;)

A Pepto-pink clutch with a burnt orange gown? Is she completely color blind? {gouging my eyeballs out}

-Chazz on February 27th, 2012

She’s a beautiful woman, wit h her looks and talent, plus money, she doesn’t have to know the color. Probably most people yearly wages on the dress, which was very nice and looked good on her body….I liked her hair also..What were you wearing?

-barbara on February 27th, 2012

Keep in mind that those are 300 UNION hours, which are different from regular hours. By my calculations, that dress has 27 hours in it, no more than 30.

-Rod C. Venger on February 27th, 2012

300 hours?
w t f!
this sk a n k y hoe needs to be shot in the head

-wikiME on February 27th, 2012

Gorgeous dress! Yes it is definitely orange with more red than yellow.

-woodrow on February 27th, 2012

I disagree on the hairstyle. I think it suits her, and is very cute. the dress is very pretty, but the wrong color for her pale coloration

-Franny on February 27th, 2012

she needs to look at the orange and make a better choice its obivious that pink does not go with the organge.

-chris on February 27th, 2012

The dress needs to be pulled over to her right a bit, the pink bag…I don’t like.

-Robynn on February 27th, 2012

Not impressed with the dress. I would call it tacky…..she could have done better.

-LINA on February 27th, 2012

Gosh that pink bag….I had missed that. Tacky now is the word for sure.

-lina on February 27th, 2012

No matter what she wears I always think that her hairstyle takes the look away. She just looks so immature. I think that she is a very talented actress and would love to see her step up her look.

-Maggie on February 27th, 2012

Wow, for 300 hours you’d think they could have come up with something better than that. Woof.

-kasey on February 27th, 2012

Melissa McCarthy looks like a big old fat pig in a dress. Gross. What’s up with that pink purse and orange dress? Stoooopid.

-jellybean on February 27th, 2012

Clothes and accessories do not have to “match” to be complimentary. Contrasting colors can be complimentary. Some go for bland, some for edgy. The fact that this dress is noticed and asked about speaks of it’s uniqueness. Bad press is better than no press. I’d wear it, it’s beautiful. A “burnt orange” or neutral bag, would not compliment, only detract.

My grandma is missing her bedspread. So that’s where it went.

-It's Me on February 27th, 2012

300 hours for this mess really. I think they were joking with you guys looks like something fresh out of home economics class

-terrence on February 27th, 2012

CLASSY!!!!!

-stu on February 27th, 2012

whats the story with the pink purse on the burnt orange dress and she has a stylist really?

-terrence on February 27th, 2012

I LOVE her hairstyle – with her very pretty features, it is very flattering. Not every pretty face can wear this style, but I love it on her. With longer hair she just blends in. Why all the critics, its really cute!! And the dress is beautiful, and not the only one to take hundreds of hours – its not like making a potholder! She is a nice lady and talented actress, why must we nitpik people to death??

-Sue on February 27th, 2012

Lovely! I think the colour is persimmon. She looks feminine and confident!

-IHICCUP on February 27th, 2012

IMO (since you asked) – this look is a train wreck. It looks like a prom dress from my high school days in the 80s and the bow at the waist makes it look like she purchased it off the rack at JCPenney. And a pink purse with a burnt orange gown? Doesn’t she have a stylist or did she accessorize in the dark? The only thing I like about this gown is the color but it isn’t enough to save this disaster

-SDCaliNurse on February 27th, 2012

I think she is a beautiful doll.

-PaulC on February 27th, 2012

300 hours??!! And that’s what they came up with? She needs to use a different designer next time. Absolutely ugly.

-Dawn on February 27th, 2012

It takes a really great figure to pull off wearing a dress like that. She looks awesome! Yes, persimmon is the color. I suppose it would be hard to find a matching purse in persimmon. Who cares about that, she looked amazing.

-Marcia on February 27th, 2012

MOST BEAUTIFUL OF ALL. SHE CAN WEAR ANYTHING.BY FAR MY FAVORITE OF THE NIGHT.COLOR WAS STUNNING.

-SANDY on February 27th, 2012

Don’t really care for the dress but the pink bag is just plain tacky.

-Joyce on February 27th, 2012

If that dress took 300 hours then someone needs to be fired. Give me a break that’s so stupid.

-Angie on February 27th, 2012

The dress is pretty but that hairstyle has got to go already. Her face is not pretty enough for a hairstyle like that.

-Dana on February 27th, 2012

Looks like a orange peel, ugly

-Melvin on February 27th, 2012

The dress is ok but it doesn’t look like a dress that took 300 hours to make it. The purse doesn’t match with the style neither does the accesories she wore. I think she needs a new style, this pixie look its getting old on her.

-Celia on February 27th, 2012

When I see past pictures of her with darker hair and a less-severe haircut and how much better she looked, I want to weep for how she looks now. This baby blond haircolor looks awful on her (and almost everyone else who fakes it as well). Too severe–it’s very aging. And the Peter Pan pixie cut is also very unflattering. I think a lot of women in Hollywood are so arrogant about their looks– like, “I’m so beautiful I can sport a weedwhacker haircut and still look beautiful.” Ummm, no.
