Runway Looks We Love: Gucci

Feb 22, 2012 @ 6:05 pm

Milan Fashion Week is happening right now, where Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini presented a darkly glamorous collection for fall 2012. She filled the runway with cocktail dresses, pencil skirts, military jackets and evening gowns in rich textures like brocade, leather, feathers, and pops of rich velvet. Intricate beaded embroidery, stiletto booties, knee-high riding boots, ladylike bags, round glasses and blood-red lips rounded out the moody lineup. See our favorite looks in the gallery now.

Celebrities love Jenny Packham! The British designer launched her collection in 2003, which she followed up with a bridal line the following year, and her designs have been red carpet regulars ever since, appearing on Kate Middleton, Kate Winslet, Kerry Washington, Angelina Jolieand more. “I’m always flattered when someone chooses my designs,” Packham told InStyle.com at her spring 2012 fashion show in New York City. “I think women who like my dresses like to look feminine and classic but with modern elements.” The designer is known for her delicate eveningwear and sweet cocktail dresses with an emphasis on embellishment—a look clients like Jolie and Middleton adore. “I think if you want to emulate their style less is more,” Packham said of dressing the two style stars. “They’re about finding key pieces that have a perfect fit but still have an impact with subtle details and design techniques.” See who else loves wearing Packham’s designs in the gallery!

Lea Michele’s character Rachel Berry headed to the courthouse to marry high school sweetheart Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) on last night’s Glee episode—and we got the inside scoop on her bridal look! The ’50s-inspired tea-length dress and veil are custom pieces created by the Glee team in collaboration with Patricia Nevil of the L.A. bridal boutique L’ezu, the show’s costume assistant Mojdeh Daftary explained to InStyle.com. “We were very happy with the episode last night,” Daftary told us. As for the inspiration, they looked to an icon: “We used Audrey Hepburn’s wedding dress in Funny Face as inspiration for Rachel Berry’s dress.” The similarities are clear!

Eva Longoria’s $30 Sunglasses: From Robert Verdi’s New HSN Collection

Feb 22, 2012 @ 1:30 pm

Stylist Robert Verdi is launching his first-ever line of sunglasses for HSN today and his celebrity clients, including Eva Longoria, are already snapping up the styles. The Desperate Housewives actress just wore his Joanna rose gold frame over the weekend. “When I gave her these, she put them on while she was blow drying her hair!” Verdi told InStyle.com. “I loved how you could see her eyes with this style. She’s not the type of celebrity who puts distance between her and the world, and her frames reflect that.” And, in his opinion, your shades should reflect your personality, too. “Sunglasses are the ultimate statement maker,” he added. And Verdi made it easy to add to your collection—each UV-protected piece is under $30. See a selection of his lineup in the gallery, and catch Verdi live on HSN tonight at 10 p.m. EST.
