Runway Looks We Love: Narciso Rodriguez

Feb 15, 2012 @ 6:45 pm

Narciso Rodriguez debuted his first-ever line of bags and shoes during his fall 2012 fashion show, revealing luxe, minimal, wearable clutches, day bags, boots, and pumps. As for the clothes—which front rowers Gloria Estefan and Claire Danes both gushed over—the lineup included fluid silk dresses and body-hugging tweed bustiers in an autumnal palette with shades of orange, brick, and tangerine. The designer also spliced shiny and matte fabrics together to create unique silhouettes, and the sweeping trains trailing some of the gowns added understated drama. Runway Looks We Love: Michael Kors

Feb 15, 2012 @ 6:40 pm

Michael Kors defined his fall 2012 collection as “rugged elegance,” and brought his inspiration to life by sending a mix of hard and soft elements down the runway. A tan leather belt cinched a gorgeous crimson gown, for example, for an unexpected pairing that represented his rugged charm. Meanwhile, the Project Runway judge described his cozy knits as “gutsy” (bold!), which was particularly true when he paired them with chantilly lace skirts. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Michael Kors show without amazing outerwear (blanket coats, ponchos, and fur-lined trenches) and sparkling gowns (in crimson, silver, gold, and black, beaded with crystals on stretch jersey). Framed doctors’ bags, chic satchels, oxfords, and Mary-Janes completed each look. See our favorites in the gallery.

Revenge Style: Outfit Details for Emily, Ashley, and More

Feb 15, 2012 @ 6:15 pm

Revenge is pretty fun to watch, right? Not only for the amazing storyline—even if totally unrealistic—but also for the fashion. Famed costume designer Jill Ohanneson is the mastermind behind the looks Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp), Ashley Davenport (Ashley Madekwe), Charlotte Grayson (Christa B. Allen), Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), and the rest of the cast wear in the show, and we must admit, we like her choices. Tonight’s episode centers on Emily and Daniel’s much anticipated Fire & Ice-themed engagement party, and style-wise revisits the same red outfits we first saw in the pilot. And those red dresses are all designer: Ashley in Alexander McQueen, Victoria in Reem Acra (right), and Charlotte and Emily (left) in Vera Wang. Watch the new episode at 10/9c on ABC tonight to see them all in action, and see more outfits from the show in the gallery.

Plus, watch Revenge with InStyle and Entertainment Weekly! Click over to EW.com’s ViEWer for a discussion of the fashion and plot, happening live as the show airs.

Hollywood favorite Oscar de la Renta created a girly, youthful collection for fall, exemplified by his use of jewels on dresses, skirts, booties, brooches, and even headbands. His pretty pastel palette included shades of pale pink and ice blue on dresses lined with tulle under layers as well as ruffled blouses. For evening—and more importantly, red carpets—the designer offered an abundance of stunners, from jaw-dropping strapless tulle gowns to sexy and sweet ruffed numbers. How to Wear Red Like Minka Kelly

Feb 15, 2012 @ 5:20 pm

Did you wear red on Valentine’s Day? The color of love is fit for any time of year, as shown by Minka Kelly’s bright dress—which was featured in our Look of the Day!—designed by Misha Nonoo. Just let it be the main talking point,” the designer told InStyle.com of how to wear the hue. “The simpler the better. I think it’s very chic to wear a pop of red, like a red blouse with neutral trousers.” As for seeing Kelly in one of her designs—just days after winning Fashion Group International’s coveted Rising Star Award—Nonoo was thrilled. “She styled it in a very classic way,” the designer said. “The nude heel made her legs go on forever, and the red looked great with her brunet hair.” Agreed! Tell us: Do you like to wear red?
