Whitney Houston passed away at the age of 48 today, CNN reports. “My mother taught me beauty really lives in places like a smile,” the late singer once said. And Houston smiled often during a superstar singing career that would garner seven albums, six Grammys and over 170 million records sold. Famously, this success would come with hardships, including a long battle with drug addiction and a rocky marriage to R&B star Bobby Brown. However, prior to her untimely death, the location and cause of which was not immediately known, the single mother to daughter Bobbi Kristina was grinning with the success of her platinum comeback album, I Look to You and a role in the forthcoming Sparkle.
