Jason Wu, the designer behind the insanely-popular new Target capsule, conquered the second day of New York Fashion Week with a collection that epitomized ’40s Hollywood with a Chinese twist, a la Marlene Dietrich in The Shanghai ExpressDeconstructed Chinese motifs appeared throughout (clouds were hand-painted on silk pieces), punctuated by unexpected textures like sheared mink and Swarvoski crystals. these synthetic fabcris that you talk about though, are terrible for the environment. it’s very unnerving that the fashion industry is going further and further away from natural fibers and towards the creation of man-made fibers that are essentially made from chemicals bad both for the environment and for our skin. i understand the points you make, but the economic downturn has really made it difficult for the world to be environmentally conscious. =(
