Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) proposed to Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) on Glee this week, and she said yes! So, how did the engagement ring—a heart-shaped diamond in channel setting featuring six smaller round diamonds—come to be? We caught up with Paul Breuninger, the show’s prop master, to find out. “When I picked the rings, I tried to be very character specific, and consider what’s proper and appropriate for Lea and Cory,” Breuninger told InStyle.com of shopping for the fictional high school students. After picking out several options, he showed them to a few staffers, including Ms. Michele. “Lea seemed fine with all of the choices, so we deferred to Cory, who made the final decision in the end.” (Like a true engagement!) The designer, however, remains unknown. “TV is too fast to bring in a lot of big-name designers, but letting Cory and Lea in on the process gave them a feeling a participation, so they could better get into their performances.” How romantic!
