The Fun Story Behind Rachel Zoe and Anne Hathaway’s Vintage Dresses

Jan 26, 2012 @ 5:50 pm

Not only did Anne Hathaway present her stylist pal Rachel Zoe with the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center’s first Visionary Award this weekthe pair also matched in vintage! Christos Garkinos and Cameron Silver, the co-founders of Hollywood designer vintage boutique Decades, dressed them in a down-to-the-very-last-minute styling whirlwind. “I was at Rachel’s house a few days before and she told me she had nothing to wear,” Garkinos—one of Zoe’s longtime pals—told InStyle.com. That’s when he pulled this velvet look, a piece Gianni Versace designed from the ’90s. “She actually turned the dress around so the buttons were in the front, not the back,” he said. “That’s Rachel for you!” Hathaway, however, needed a last-minute option. “She called me two hours before the event,” he said. After trying nine looks, Hathaway went with a black silk chiffon haute couture Christian Dior gown. “I had no idea which one she was going to pick, but when she showed up she looked so amazing.” So, what made these dresses stand out? “The great thing about what we do is that vintage is has a sense of modernity,” he said. “They felt so chic and right on and that’s the true key.” And since they only borrowed the dresses, you can scoop them up yourself by calling Decades at 323-655-0223.

Sundance Film Festival: Behind-the-Scenes Photos!

Jan 26, 2012 @ 5:45 pm

Talk about full service! This year at InStyles Sundance Film Festival portrait studio, hosted by the Grey Goose Blue Door Lounge, we not only made sure the stars looked their best when they stepped in front of our camera, we also helped them get ready to walk the red carpet and hit the late-night party scene. Black Rock leading lady Kate Bosworth was treated to a makeup touch-up from Smashbox makeup artist Lori Taylor, Elizabeth Olsen picked up a tiger-print Topshop scarf sweater to wear to the premiere of Liberal Arts, and Rashida Jones nabbed the new Willis tote from Coach so she could go hands-free at the Bachelorette after-party. Elle Macpherson walked the Golden Globes red carpet with charity in mind! The gold clutch that accessorized her mermaid Zac Posen gown is a piece Fiona Kotur created just for Operation Smile, with 100% of proceeds going straight to the non-profit organization. “Our aim was to create a clutch that would embrace an optimistic and happy spirit, to bring a smile both to those who carry it and to the many children who will benefit from the proceeds,” said the accessory designer. The clutch just went on sale online this week; find it for $395 at koturltd.com
