Miss America 2012: Meet Miss Wisconsin, Laura Kaeppeler!

The Golden Globe red carpet wasn’t the only place to go gown-spotting this weekend! Miss America 2012 took place in Las Vegas on Saturday, where Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler beat out the pageant’s other hopefuls in a black V-neck gown with embroidered lace details. Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan crowned a teary-eyed Kaeppeler, a Carthage College graduate who hopes to get a master’s in speech pathology. Katy Perry’s Electric Blue Hair: The Inside Scoop!

Katy Perry debuted an electric blue hair color last week—and no, it’s not a wig. We caught up with her colorist Rita Hazan, the same woman who turned her strands lavender last year, for the inside scoop. “Katy wanted to go this particular color blue for a few weeks now,” Hazan told InStyle.com exclusively. “The blonde was not an interim color. She wanted to be blonde at the time, but knew it wouldn’t be permanent, just another Katy Perry look! It didn’t take long to transition to this color.” As for working with the pop star, it’s a collaborative effort. “We have a great relationship,” Hazan said. “Katy is the ideal client because she loves to be creative and unpredictable with her look which is a fun challenge for me, so we work very well together.” Tell us: Do you like her blue ‘do?

The Golden Globes red carpet had no shortage of sparkling gowns, and thanks to a few well-placed hair accessories, Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps added some extra shimmer to their looks. Best Actress nominee Theron chose a vintage Cartier piece, decked out in diamonds. “Because this piece of jewelry was so special, I had to make sure the hair was understated,” her hairstylist Enzo Angileri told InStyle.com.
