Our favorite outfits of the week—pulled from our Look of the Day top picks— are a chic semblance of black and white (and a touch of burgundy!). The top five: Rachel Zoe‘s sequin Yves Saint Laurent jumpsuit, Taylor Swift in Reem Acra, Anne Hathaway in a high-neck black sheath, Rooney Mara in a backless Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown and Sandra Bullock‘s plunging Alexander McQueen design. She won’t reveal plot spoilers (we asked), but Revenge star Ashley Madekwe will share a few style secrets. The actress, who plays Ashley Davenport on the hit show, uses a well-trained eye for fashion to help create her character’s killer outfits. “I referenced Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung as inspirations,” explains the UK native, who shares her real-life sartorial adventures on the blog Ring My Bell. “We use British designers like Mulberry and McQueen and, since half of my own wardrobe is from Topshop, I’m keen for Ashley to wear it as well.” Costume designer Jill Ohanneson loves collaborating with the hands-on Madekwe. “We decided early on that her character would be all about shoes and handbags,” Ohanneson says. “That’s what I spend the most money on.” When, occasionally, a designer item goes missing from the wardrobe department, the mystery is easily solved. “I borrowed a pair of Louboutins once, and I wore a Theory dress out to a party,” Madekwe confesses. “I knew I could get away with it if I didn’t have my picture taken!”
We’re almost at the season finale of Project Accessory! Last night, InStyle editor Ariel Foxman and the rest of the judging crew threw the designers for a loop with their decision to send not one, but two contestants home. Christina and Diego were both eliminated—Christina felt she made a mistake by picking the “craziest dress!” to go with her gold accessories, and Molly Sims pointed out that Diego just plays it too safe. Rich, meanwhile, won the red carpet challenge with his bug-themed looks. As always, Foxman live-tweeted the broadcast, and we’ve put together our favorite tweets below:
- 1. Folks, I did have complimentary things to say, I did.
- 2. One earring? Brian, no … not every woman wants to look like Appolonia
- 3. Minaudiere drinking game, anyone? #projectaccessory
- 4. Good night, #projectaccessory-ites. See you next week. It’s the finale, folks. You know that because I am going to wear a tie.
Be sure to catch the finale next Thursday at 10/9c on Lifetime, and follow @ArielFoxman on Twitter during the episode! Plus, take a look back at the original 12 contestants in our gallery. More

If you need further convincing that pink lipstick is having a moment, look to Jennifer Hudson, Amber Heard, Olivia Wilde and Kourtney Kardashian for proof! The stars have been looking pretty in pink on and off the red carpet, and while the shade may have a summer feel, lipsticks with an opaque or satin finish are perfect for the winter. Pink lipstick is also a great alternative to the traditional red lip, so if the thought of a full-on crimson lipstick intimidates you, or you want to switch it up for the holidays, think pink! Click through our gallery to see our favorite pink lipstick picks, then tell us, would you ever rock a hot pink lip?
