The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: Pop-Up Shop Now Open!

Fans of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, take note: H&M launched a pop-up shop in celebration of it’s Dragon Tattoo Collection! The part retail, part coffee shop, part cyber cafe showcases the complete collection by the film’s stylist Trish Summerville. But there’s an interactive component as well: guests can watch extended film trailers while they shop, take pictures in a photo booth and even access all of the cameras in the pop-up shop (inspired by the computer hacking anti-heroine of the film, played by Rooney Mara). Check out the pop-up shop at 72 Gasevoort between Washington and Greenwich Streets in New York City, open from December 14th through December 16th from 12pm to 10pm daily.

Saks Does Up Its Holiday Windows For Charity!

Saks Fifth Avenue dressed their holiday windows with a charitable spirit! The department store invited the designers Stella McCartney, Proenza Schouler, Nina Ricci, Olivier Theyskens, Rag & Bone, and Erdem to create one-of-a-kind dresses to display in a series of dreamy “bubbles and snowflakes” themed tableaux. Beyond just looking good, all the exclusive gowns are being auctioned off through Charitybuzz to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Bidding starts today and opens at $500—which dress has you ready to make a donation?

Sneak Peek: China Glaze’s Hunger Games Nail Polish

China Glaze is launching nail polishes inspired by The Hunger Games—and we got an early look at the shades! The collection of twelve shimmery, sparkly polishes evokes the opulence and extravagance of Panem’s richest city, the Capitol. (At left and from the top are Electrify, Agro, and Hook and Line.) China Glaze polishes are free of BP, toluene, and added formaldehyde, and sell for around $7 a bottle—although the final price has yet to be announced. The line will be available at specialty beauty retailers starting March 1st. And here’s a special challenge for Hunger Games superfans: What elements of the story inspired the polish names? With record setting bids coming in from Elizabeth Taylor’s Christie’s auction, even celebrities are getting in on the action! This afternoon Kim Kardashian took home a set of Lorraine Schwartz bangles for $64,900. The reality star, who conducted the last interview with Elizabeth Taylor in a special report for Harper’s Bazaar, is also close with the jewelry designer. “I never thought I could own a piece of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry,” says Kardashian. ”I was so thrilled to win these bangles because they were hers, designed by my good friend Lorraine Schwartz and they are jade.” The legend about jade says it carries the energy of the wearer. “It’s not just a piece of jewelry,” says Kardashian. ”She wore them constantly during the final years of her life and I believe they carry her spirit.” Click through the gallery below to see what other big tickets items sold at auction!

First Look: Prabal Gurung Designs New Sephora Uniforms

Prabal Gurung has created new uniforms for Sephora‘s in-store beauty advisors! The beauty retailer’s current uniform has been used since 2001, but in April, the new designs will be rolled out at North American stores. “The beauty advisors work so hard to make their clients look and feel good. I was ecstatic with the opportunity to make them look just as amazing,” Gurung said at the unveiling of the garments last night in New York City. “I incorporated some of my favorite design elements into the uniforms, and although I won’t get to personally meet every individual advisor, it’s exciting to think they’ll be getting to know me by wearing these outfits.” 2011 has been a big year for Gurung: Not only was he awarded the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear, but he was recently appointed chief designer to relaunch the Japansese fashion brand ICB. Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry: Sold!

All the world record prices set for jewelry at the Christie’s evening sale of Elizabeth Taylor’s collection were gifts from Richard Burton. The historic Peregrina Pearl suspended from a Cartier necklace set a record for the highest price paid for a pearl. It was also the most expensive piece in the auction at $11,842,500. The Van Cleef & Arpels 8.62-carat ruby ring set a record of price per carat for a ruby. The astounding total was $512,925 per carat adding up to $4,226,500. The $6,578,500 price paid for the Bulgari emerald and diamond brooch set a world record for an emerald jewel sold at auction. The total for the evening sale alone of $115,932,000 shattered the previous record for a private collection of jewels sold at auction held since 1987 by Duchess of Windsor’s $50,281,887 sale. And the total is climbing with almost 200 lots of jewelry being sold at Christie’s auction house today and over 600 pieces online in a sale ending on December 17th.
