Black Friday 2011: Projected to Reach $20 Billion in Sales!

Black Friday 2011 is gearing up to be a record-breaker! Sales are projected to hit $20.3 billion, WWD reports, which would make it the first $20 billion day in U.S. retail history. And retailers are quick to provide the incentives, with stores opening Thanksgiving night and offering larger-than-life promotions. The tactics seem to be working—17 percent of those polled said they will shop on Black Friday, as opposed to last year’s 12 percent. Are you one of them?

Project Accessory: See the Bonus Workroom Footage!

The last episode of Project Accessory challenged each contestant to design a handbag for a woman featured in eBay’s Style Stories. And there was a lot you didn’t see on TV, like mentor Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti helping the contestants in the workroom. “To me, I feel like this could snap,” she says to Shea Curry of her brown chainstrap purse. “Watch your details, because some of this is really bugging me,” she advises Rich Sandomeno on his army-green and copper clutch. When the designers went before judges Molly Sims, InStyle editor Ariel Foxman, and guests Kara Ross and Rebecca Minkoff, Diego Rocha came out on top, while James Sommerfeldt was told to go.
