Anne Hathaway’s Red Lip Stain Secret

Nov 13, 2011 @ 6:00 pm

We loved Anne Hathaway’s fresh faced look at the Princess Grace Awards Gala in New York City. It was an evening event, and her makeup—a palette of smoky eyes, rosy blush and sheer red lips—was dramatic without being heavy or overdone. How to achieve a statement-making red lip without having it take over? “Anne has full, gorgeous lips so I pressed-on the lipstick with my finger instead of a brush,” her makeup artist Hung Vanngo explained. Press a few extra times into the center of the lips for a believable, just-bitten stain. For more ideas for your lips, click through the gallery.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Exhibit Opens in Dallas This Weekend

Nov 13, 2011 @ 2:00 pm

Jean Paul Gaultier’s first-ever exhibit, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, has just landed at the Dallas Museum of Art after a four-month stint in Montreal. The show features costumes worn by the French couturier’s most famous celebrity clientele—like Madonna‘s Blond Ambition tour corset and Dita Von Teese‘s bustier dress—along with pieces donned by Naomi Campbell, Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker. “Gaultier wanted his exhibition to reflect the energy of a catwalk show,” says Kevin W.Tucker,  the curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the DMA. And it does!

WHERE TO FIND IT: The Dallas Museum of Art is located at 1717 North Harwood in Dallas. Call 214-922-1200 or visit dm-art.org for tickets and info. The exhibit will remain in Dallas through February 12th, and will then travel to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco next, where it is set to open March 24th.

Great Hairstyle Idea: Katie Holmes’ Sleek Blowout

Nov 13, 2011 @ 12:00 pm

We loved Katie Holmes’s silky blowout at the Los Angeles premiere of Jack and Jill. Wella Professionals celebrity hairstylist Andy LeCompte says, “I wanted to give Katie a feather-light, radiantly shiny blowout to let her natural beauty take centerstage on the red carpet.” LeCompte smoothed out the follicles by prepping damp hair with a priming product. He also worked in a dollop of mousse before blow-drying with a round brush. “Mousse creates the perfect balance of touchable movement and all-night hold,” he adds.
