Kelly Killoren Bensimon to Launch Line of Ballet Flats

Oct 28, 2011 @ 6:00 pm

The Real Housewives of New York star Kelly Killoren Bensimon is launching a line of ballet flats!  “After being on Housewives, everyone was commenting on my flats, and I realized that there was a void in the market,” she tells InStyle.com. “I wanted to create something that I love and that people are interested in.” So, she teamed up with footwear company BBC International to create Kelly by Kelly Killoren Bensimon, an assortment of ballerinas in bright hues and animal patterns for $40 a pair. The colorful collection is also for a cause—for every pair sold, she will donate $3 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to channel my two passions: philanthropy and style,” she says. The collection hits stores this spring.

Oct 28, 2011 @ 4:55 pm

Still debating your Halloween costume? Consider going as Water for Elephants’ glam circus entertainer Marlena Rosenbluth (played by Reese Witherspoon)! We caught up with Robin Fredriksz, the on-set makeup artist, to get instructions for creating this classic look. “I drew inspiration from the actresses of the late ‘20s and ‘30s like Jean Harlow and Carole Lombard,” Fredriksz tells InStyle.com. “All of the costumes and makeup were kept very true to that period, so sometimes when I was on set, I really felt like I had stepped back in time.” Get all the how-to beauty details by clicking through the gallery now!

Plus, catch Water for Elephants all over again, when it hits stores in Blu-ray and DVD starting Tuesday, November 1st.

The Hunger Games: First Look at Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket

Oct 28, 2011 @ 4:05 pm

With 146 days until the first installment of The Hunger Games hits theaters, Lionsgate just released eight new movie posters so we can see what most of the leading characters will look like! The one we’re most excited about is Effie Trinket, played by Elizabeth Banks, who escorts District 12 tributes Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) to the Games. In the book, Effie is known for her vibrantly-hued wardrobe, hair, and makeup, which translates into the movie version with fuchsia eye shadow and white hair, shown here. To see more of the characters go from book to big screen, click through the gallery. And, until the movie’s release on March 23, 2012, we must say: May the odds be ever in your favor.

Kate Middleton’s Dress: Amanda Wakeley!

Oct 28, 2011 @ 3:30 pm

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge pulled from Amanda Wakeley’s previous collections to find the formal evening gown look she wore to an event honoring the Prince Charles-founded charity In Kind Direct in London this week. The British designer originally showed off the look as part of her fall 2006 collection, and sent it down the runway in a shade of pale ivory-yellow with black criss-crossing beaded straps. The update for the Duchess included changing the color to a shade of ice blue, adding silver beads rather than black, and moving the waist up to right beneath the bustline. Take a closer look at the dress in the gallery.
