Runway Looks We Love: Carolina Herrera

Sep 12, 2011 @ 8:30 pm

Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2012 collection was one of easy elegance. Day looks offered a laid-back luxe style, with menswear-inspired crisp white blouses—the designer’s own signature piece—paired with slightly slouchy pants, and printed maxi dresses with an effortlessly breezy quality. Evening looks were all-out glamour, with art deco-inspired gowns covered in intricate beading and vibrant floor-length red carpet looks the color of fresh-cut grass. Sky-high wedges courtesy of Manolo Blahnik completed each look. Click through the gallery to see our favorite looks from the spring 2012 Carolina Herrera collection.

Runway Looks We Love: Rachel Roy

Sep 12, 2011 @ 7:00 pm

InStyle contributor Rachel Roy presented a mix of masculine and feminine for her spring 2012 collection. Soft pastels and florals offset stark black and white, while slouchy layers felt instantly polished thanks to wide leather belts. She also added a few pajama-inspired outfits in the form of washed silk pajama pants and crinkled georgette tunics, a look the designer recently tried herself for a red-carpet event. As for evening, Roy offered shape-enhancing silhouettes, such as a bustier paired with a pencil skirt. Click through the gallery for our favorite looks from the Rachel Roy collection.

InStyle contributor Rachel Roy teamed up with basketball star Amar’e Stoudemire to create a capsule collection of courtside-ready clothes, and the new looks are available now! “I love that Amar’e has a very strong point of view,” Roy told InStyle.com exclusively. “He knows how to push the boundaries, which I really like. If someone his height [6’10”] wants to wear something pink and tight, that’s great. It just shows people that they don’t have to look like everyone else.” Their collaboration includes tees, tanks and sweatpants, with some leather pieces in sporty silhouettes thrown into the mix. Find the styles, priced from $49 to $229, on RachelRoy.com.

Plus, watch the pair tease the new looks (and their fave ice cream flavors) in the fun video below!  More

Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s New Blunt Bangs!

Sep 12, 2011 @ 4:40 pm

Jamie-Lynn Sigler just added blunt bangs to her ‘do, and debuted the look during New York Fashion Week. “I’m even still getting used to it!” the actress told InStyle.com at the Tracy Reese fashion show.  Sigler was inspired to get the fringe for an upcoming movie role, and went in for the cut a few days ago. “I needed a more serious look for the part, so we went dark with bangs.” But she doesn’t want to keep this look forever: “As soon as the bangs start growing, I’ll start blowing them to the side,” she explained. “I’m just going to have to live with them for a little while.” For more dramatic hair makeovers, click through the gallery.

Katie Cassidy’s New Darker ‘Do!

Sep 12, 2011 @ 2:15 pm

Katie Cassidy, also known as Gossip Girl‘s Juliet Sharp, debuted a fresh brunet look during New York Fashion Week, an update from her ultra-sunny blond color. “I’m about to shoot a film, so I switched it up,” she told us at the Tracy Reese fashion show. “I feel a bit more mysterious and sexy, but I also think people react to me differently. In a way, they almost take me more seriously as a brunet then as a blond!” The expert colorists at the Valery Joseph Salon in New York City were responsible for the new hue. And Cassidy isn’t the only one going darker for fall—Julianne Moore also recently traded her ginger hair for a darker ‘do. See who else dyed their hair this year in the gallery!
