Runway Looks We Love: Prabal Gurung

Sep 10, 2011 @ 6:00 pm

Prabal Gurung took a high-fashion approach to athletic elements for his spring 2012 collection. Track shorts looked luxe in laser-cut floral mesh, adding to the exciting mix of textures like feathers, lace, and leather. The palette offered various shades of violet, from grape to dahlia to orchid to mulberry—even on the lips—while sweet floral prints got a bad-girl edge thanks to criss-crossing leather straps. Gurung accessorized the collection by collaborating with Linda Farrow for oversize cat-eye glasses and Nicholas Kirkwood for strappy black and purple heels. Would You Match Your Hair Color to Your Scarf?

Sep 10, 2011 @ 3:30 pm

Celebrity color stylist Jill Kirsh, famous for her unique system of picking hair colors that flatter your features and skin tone, is using her knowledge of swatches to launch a new line of scarves. “I’m so excited to be able to offer online these hand-painted, one-of-a-kind silk scarves, that have previously only been available to my private clientele,” Kirsh told InStyle.com. The scarves are shoppable by four hair color groups: warm blonde, deep brunette, golden brown and red or ash blonde, and platinum and gray, with three choices available per section. See which scarves match your hue and shop the collection ($150 to $650) at jillkirshcolor.com. Tell us: Would you match your hair color to your accessories?

Freida Pinto’s Clothes Got Stuck in Customs, But She Survived!

Sep 10, 2011 @ 2:50 pm

“There’s an interesting story behind this dress,” Freida Pinto told us after we admired the poppy red frock she wore to visit InStyle‘s Toronto Film Festival photo studio. While Pinto made it safely to Canada to promote her new film Trishna, the wardrobe she planned to wear did not arrive with her. “All of my dresses are stuck in customs, so I had to pull something out of my suitcase,” she explained. “Luckily I had this dress, which my friend Sanchita Ajjampur designed for me.” Pinto’s look is one of a kind, but the India-based Ajjampur, who serves as a design consultant for Lanvin and Chloe, has her own line named Sanchita if you want to score a similar look. Visit SanchitaStore.com to see her latest designs.

Runway Looks We Love: The Row

Sep 10, 2011 @ 2:20 pm

Pure elegance is the key phrase to sum up Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s spring 2012 collection for The Row. The pair’s newest designs include billowy caftans for evening, and even silky pajamas that you could easily picture the designers wearing themselves. Intricate folds, embroidery, and beading embellished the soft palette of whites, creams and blushes, giving the entire lineup a very grown-up feel both effortless and cool. Click through to see our favorite looks from The Row’s new collection.

Runway Looks We Love: Rag & Bone

Sep 10, 2011 @ 11:45 am

If you love the music festival-inspired look, then you will love the styles from Rag & Bone’s spring 2012 runway show. Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright’s sporty cool collection had a ‘70s surfer-girl vibe: Textured fabrics (think crochet and mesh) were layered over parachute materials, while hints of vibrant neon popped on bikinis, shoes, and bags. Accessories included bright clutches, wide-band cuff bracelets and black-and-white velcro chokers. Click through the gallery to see some of our favorite looks from the Rag & Bone spring 2012 fashion show.
