While only a handful of guests were invited to see the Valentino haute couture fall/winter 2011 collection come down the runway in Paris today—Anne Hathaway, Olivia Palermo and Amanda Peet among them—the intricate craftsmanship is so clearly visible from the pictures on your computer screen. “Opulence is transformed in a private dimension far from indiscreet eyes,” is how the Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli described the collection, which was full of tulle, lace, feather accents, hand-sewn flowers and sheer elements. Nicole Miller’s partnership with Indego Africa is growing! Last year, the New York designer teamed up with the Rwanda-based fair trade social organization for women artisans to create bangles and woven bracelets. This summer, the collaborators added brightly-hued sarongs and colorful printed shorts to the mix, perfect for poolside. “I’ve always loved the vibrancy and hand-crafted feel of African prints and textiles,” Miller said of the collection. The new offerings, ranging from $25 for a bracelet to $65 for a bottom on NicoleMiller.com, are printed on African fabric, and 15% of the proceeds will be donated to Indego Africa. Catherine Middleton is on day seven of our North American tour (time goes so quickly!) and made a stop in Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada today. For her visit to a forest fire-devastated area, she re-wore her navy J.Brand “811″ mid-rise skinny pants, as well as her navy one-button blazer by Smythe, which she wore on the first day of her trip (check out the cool back). The Duchess of Cambridge’s look also introduced two new pieces, a white ruffle blouse (we’re still working on IDing it!) and black slingback wedges (similar, but different to her LK Bennett espadrille wedges).
