It’s official—Jane Lynch is hosting the 2011 Emmys! The Glee star will kick off this year’s broadcast on Sunday, September 18th, and she’s the first woman to do so since Ellen DeGeneres hosted in 2005! “Jane was my first—and my only—choice as host or this year’s Primetime Emmys, and I am glad she said yes,” said Emmys executive producer Mark Burnett said in a statement. Lynch is no stranger to the awards show—she won a best supporting actress Emmy last year for her portrayal of Glee‘s Sue Sylvester, and she’s also been nominated as a guest actress in a comedy for her work on Two and a Half Men. Emmy nominations will be announced at 8:40 a.m. EST on Thursday, July 14th. In the meantime, check out our coverage of last year’s Emmy Awards!
