Kate Middleton and Grace Kelly Used the Same French Lace Maker for Their Wedding DressesMay 9, 2011 @ 3:40 pm
Now that Catherine Middleton’s wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen is seared into memory, we’re learning even more amazing details about the workmanship that went into producing it. The lace on Middleton’s bodice and the skirt incorporated both hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace, the Clarence House wrote, and the French lace came from the same company that produced the lace for Grace Kelly’s dress—Solstiss. The business’s workshop in Caudry, northern France produced 25 meters (or 82 feet) of lace that was used in the patterns for the lace and tulle of the gown.
