Last night’s party for Irene Neuwirth’s diamond collection at Barneys New York drew quite the celebrity crowd, including famous best friends Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams (in Prada) who stole away from the action to rest their feet on the store’s comfy leather chairs. InStyle‘s reporters also hit up a slew of New York events, including a Lenscrafters’ bash hosted by Joan Rivers and Madewell‘s latest store opening, where Alexa Chung gave us the inside scoop on her latest collection for the brand. Famed bridal designer Monique Lhuillier, who has dressed celebrity brides such as Reese Witherspoon, Carrie Underwood, Pink, and Alicia Silverstone, unveiled her newest bridal 2012 collection recently. Lhuillier named each of the gowns with a woman’s name, as she typically does, but we noticed something interesting this time around. Two of the looks in her new lineup have names with a royal ring to them—Catherine and Pippa! The “Catherine” gown, right, looks fit for a princess with long sleeves, a high neckline, and an all-over lace approach. The “Pippa” dress, left, looks like it could be for a bridesmaid or maid of honor (and Pippa Middleton is the maid of honor at sister Catherine’s nuptials) with a short hemline and a more body-hugging silhouette. The competition is heating up on American Idol, and Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart both brought out the feminine frocks on last night’s Carole King episode! We caught up with the show’s costume designer Soyon An for the inside scoop. “This dress was free and floaty, sparkly and cool,” An said of Reinhart’s fluttery Haute Hippie number (right). As for Lauren, the stylist settled on an asymmetrical Allen Schwartz dress (left). “It’s trendy, fun and girly,” An said of the look, which also included Wet Seal earrings and vintage boots. Days after announcing her engagement to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, Kristin Cavallari gave the public the first glimpse of her engagement ring! The Hills alum showed off the sparkler, a square-cut diamond in a four-prong setting atop a channel-set diamond band, in Los Angeles yesterday. Cutler, 27, proposed to Cavallari, 24, during a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They had been dating since last fall.

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s wedding is less than 24 hours away, and the royal family is busy prepping for the ceremony! Kate and Pippa Middleton were spotted entering Westminster Abbey for the wedding rehearsal, while hotel staff at the Goring Hotel, where Kate Middleton will be staying tonight, were spotted hauling garment bags.
