Cate Blanchett‘s new film Hanna hits theaters today, and we’re excited to see her play Marissa Wiegler—a tenacious intelligence officer after young assassin Hanna (Saoirse Ronan). To match her character’s fiery personality, Blanchett wears an auburn wig for the movie. “I’ve actually been a redhead quite a few times in film, and it was really important to find a shade that worked with my skin tone,” the actress told InStyle exclusively. “In Hanna, going red was director Joe Wright’s idea, but I decided the cut of the wig.” Blanchett has rocked red hair off-screen, but when we asked her if she’d ever dye it again, she told us, “Probably not for a while. Emmy Rossum is a triple threat—she can act, sing and design handbags! Earlier this year, the Shameless star teamed up with Elie Tahari to create the “Emmy” bucket bag to raise funds for Safe Horizon and last night, Olivia Munn was on hand at Tahari’s New York City outpost to see Rossum unveil her fashion masterpiece. Also in N.Y.C. Alexa Chung stepped behind the decks to deejay for Jessica Szohr at the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play bash, while new mom Mariska Hargitay stopped by the Can-Do Awards to benefit the city’s Food Bank. Have you ever watched Steven Tyler on American Idol and thought What’s in his hair? Well, those funky strands you see are feathers! “Steven is always wanting to do fun and new things,” hairstylist Stephanie Pohl—the mastermind behind Tyler’s rock star look—told InStyle. “I saw the feathers in the hair store and knew they would be perfect for him.” And she stocked up! “I have a bunch of packages of different feathers in different colors,” Pohl said. “Every few weeks I change out the feathers and bond new ones into his hair. The feathers stay in until I remove them.” Feathers aren’t the only thing she puts in the Aerosmith singer’s hair. “He wears a braid that I sew charms into, and he wears what we call his raccoon tail in the front,” she said.
