Cate Blanchett‘s new film Hanna hits theaters today, and we’re excited to see her play Marissa Wiegler—a tenacious intelligence officer after young assassin Hanna (Saoirse Ronan). To match her character’s fiery personality, Blanchett wears an auburn wig for the movie. “I’ve actually been a redhead quite a few times in film, and it was really important to find a shade that worked with my skin tone,” the actress told InStyle exclusively. “In Hanna, going red was director Joe Wright’s idea, but I decided the cut of the wig.” Blanchett has rocked red hair off-screen, but when we asked her if she’d ever dye it again, she told us, “Probably not for a while. I like being blond, but it’s great being able to try different looks out in films.” Click through our gallery to see Cate Blanchett’s top redhead moments!
American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez Tweeted fans asking for some styling help this week: “What should I wear on @americanidol tonight? #creamwithgold or #sparklywithtulle?” And the winner, as we saw on Wednesday night’s show, was cream and gold! Her skin-tight ivory dress with gold buckles was a fresh-off-the-runway look from Hervé Léger by Max Azria‘s fall 2011 collection (check it out here). The following night, during Pia Toscano’s shocking elimination show, Lopez wore a burnt orange blouse by Diane Von Furstenberg ($245 at DVF.com) with layers of necklaces. She also twisted her hair into a high ballerina bun to show off her sparkling dangle earrings. See more of Jennifer Lopez’s American Idol looks here.

Spring’s biggest nail polish trend is all about Rainbow Brights. Yellows, blues, lilacs, and more ROYGBIV hues are going to be bit hits at the nail salon this season. Take Kim Kardashian‘s bright coral, for example. The reality star chose a juicy orange shade so vibrant it almost tipped to red when she attended the Kids’ Choice Awards last weekend. These days, peach, nectarine and apricot will all pass as coral on the shelves, but the real tone, as it’s found in nature, is deeper and more sanguine. Opt for the shade to make a bold spring statement. Because what better way to accent a little white dress than a pop of color on the nails? Read on for tips on how to wear Rainbow Bright hues and which ones to buy.
Have you ever watched Steven Tyler on American Idol and thought What’s in his hair? Well, those funky strands you see are feathers! “Steven is always wanting to do fun and new things,” hairstylist Stephanie Pohl—the mastermind behind Tyler’s rock star look—told InStyle. “I saw the feathers in the hair store and knew they would be perfect for him.” And she stocked up! “I have a bunch of packages of different feathers in different colors,” Pohl said. “Every few weeks I change out the feathers and bond new ones into his hair. The feathers stay in until I remove them.” Feathers aren’t the only thing she puts in the Aerosmith singer’s hair. “He wears a braid that I sew charms into, and he wears what we call his raccoon tail in the front,” she said. Click through the gallery for a closer look at Tyler’s accessorized hair and to find out how Pohl perfected his hair’s gritty texture.
Cate Blanchett’s latest film Hanna premieres today, and Giorgio Armani outfitted the star in a series of sleek suits for the thriller. Blanchett, who wore a red wig for the role, stars as intelligence operative Marissa Wiegler, a woman on a mission to chase down 16-year-old assassin Hanna, played by Saoirse Ronan. Armani settled on tough-girl tailoring mixed with softer elements, like a green cashmere overcoat, to represent Blanchett’s character. “Working with Cate Blanchett, on and off the screen, has always been a highlight for me,” Armani noted. “She embodies the perfect combination of consummate actor and world-class fashion icon.” Click through to see Blanchett’s Hanna looks, and see some of Armani’s costume sketches.
Hillary Clinton, is that you? Our March cover girl Julianne Moore makes a very convincing Secretary of State in this leaked makeup test image from the HBO Tony Blair biopic The Special Relationship. And while she didn’t end up playing Clinton, she’s gearing up to play another political lady: Sarah Palin in HBO’s upcoming flick Game Change. Tell us: Did Moore’s Clinton photo make you do a double take? We did!
