Not only are the costumes precisely executed for each Dancing With the Stars episode, but the makeup is, too. That’s why we caught up with the show’s head makeup artist Melanie Mills for the exclusive scoop on some of the night’s looks, like Kendra Wilkinson’s red hot makeup. Since Wilkinson was dancing the romantic rumba, Mills kept her makeup soft and sultry. “We toned down the over-the-top diva look that we’ve been doing the last few weeks and instead went for a soft bedroom eye,” she told us. Mills swept amber shadow from Anastasia’s Illumin8 Complex eye shadow palette No. 5 ($40, sephora.com) across the entire lid, and then rimmed her eyes with black pencil and finished with tons of lifting mascara. A few dabs of highlighter on the star’s cheekbones and chin warmed her complexion and added a touch of light, as seen on Mills’ face chart (inset). See Wendy Williams’ look after the jump! More
Our favorite Canadian crooner Michael Bublé married Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato in Buenos Aires over the weekend. The couple first enjoyed a civil ceremony, and later celebrated in grandeur with 300 guests at a private mansion. The groom, 35, sang his hit “Haven’t Met You Yet” to his new bride at the reception in a DSquared2 suit, a song he originally wrote for her in 2009, and they had their first dance to Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody.” The bride, 23, wore three dresses for her multiple affairs: a purple dress for the civil ceremony, a Sylvie Burstin gown (shown), and a Marchesa design. The couple had been engaged since 2009. Click through to see inside the Bublé-Lopilato wedding!
Dancing With the Stars delivered another entertaining episode last night, and the costumes by designer Randall Christensen were just as interesting as the dancing. Sheer overlays were one of last night’s most popular fabrics, as seen on Kirstie Alley and Kendra Wilkinson. “Both Kirstie and Kendra chose songs that were rumbas, which is such a romantic dance, and the slowest of all the Latin dances,” Christensen told InStyle. “In order to enhance slow, deliberate body movement, it’s quite the challenge to get the costume to move with every subtle step. A sheer overlay not only adds ripples and flow to the dance, it also softens the lines, and adds that romantic tone to their routine,” he said. “And who doesn’t like to get a peek at what’s underneath?!” he added. We must admit, the chiffon glided across the floor, even after Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s abrupt muscle spasm sent him and Alley tumbling to the ground. Kim, Kourtney and the rest of the Kardashian gang came out to help Khloe and husband Lamar Odom celebrate the launch of their latest venture, Unbreakable by Khloe and Lamar. “We’re the first celebrity couple do to a unisex perfume, ” Khloe told reporters, admitting that the creative process did spark some marital discord. “It wasn’t just the fragrance, it was a lot of things building up to it, but it did make us have one of our biggest fights!” In New York City, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos helped honor Bravo TV exec Andy Cohen, while Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert hit the MGM Grand for the Academy of Country Music’s Girls’ Night Out in Las Vegas. Give your toes some air! For one day, TOMS shoes wants you to go barefoot in support of its 4th annual One Day Without Shoes event to raise awareness for children who don’t have access to footwear. “The problem is large but the solution is simple,” said TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie. “Wearing shoes and basic hygiene can prevent both infection and disease due to unsafe roads and contaminated soil. By imagining a life without shoes, we can all contribute to the awareness of these conditions.” Those who want to participate can find information on barefoot events and walks, like the one today in New York with model Anne V. (shown), at One Day Without Shoes.com. Nail polish brand Essie also created a limited-edition light blue color in honor of the event named One Day Without Blues (inset). And if you can’t go shoeless today, check out the footwear on TOMS’ website
—for every pair of shoes purchased, a pair is donated to a child in need.
