Dancing With the Stars: Petra Nemcova’s Sexy Tear-Away Outfit Details!

Mar 29, 2011 @ 12:30 pm

The celebrity contestants on Dancing With the Stars upped their game during last night’s show with jives and quicksteps galore! And besides learning new moves, they’re also incorporating style tricks into their performances, such as model Petra Nemcova’s slick costume change in the middle of her jive routine to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” The show’s costume designer Randall Christensen worked with Nemcova and her partner Dmitry Chaplin to create the look from scratch. “We did not want just a tear away skirt as it can sometimes be a bit predictable,” Christensen told InStyle. “We opted for the tear away to come from the empire area, so the midriff would be exposed afterwards.” However, the day of the show, he had to make a few emergency tweaks. “The dress was held together with snaps originally, but the snaps held too well, and we had to replace the snaps with Velcro after rehearsal,” Christensen said. “Petra was a bit concerned as to how strong the Velcro was and the amount of energy and strength needed to tear it away. But Petra is so dedicated and focused to what she is doing, and did not panic. What a dream lady to work with!” But will it take her to next week’s episode… we’ll see! Click through to see what the rest of the contestants wore on last night’s episode!

Celebrities have caught on to cobalt! Demi Moore wore the blue hue when she attended the Costume Designers Guild Awards in a strapless Vivienne Westwood gown last month, while Olivia Munn stepped out this weekend in an electric blue Marchesa dress belted with a matching sash. Abbie Cornish showed up to last week’s Sucker Punch premiere in a cobalt Amanda Wakeley frock, and Dita Von Teese stopped by Perez Hilton’s birthday bash on Saturday in a sequined Jenny Packham number. Would you wear this bold color? Tell us in the comments!

Mar 29, 2011 @ 10:30 am

It’s a happy day for any Britney Spears’ fan—her new album Femme Fetale comes out today! Spears appeared on Good Morning America this morning to promote the record, a segment she filmed in San Francisco in front of a live arena-filling audience. Spears performed a few songs for the happy sold-out crowd, including her latest chart-topping hit “Hold It Against Me” and mash-ups of her songs “3″ and “Toxic” and more. As for her look, it’s so Britney, as she returned to her barely-there leotard outfits covered in crystals, sequins, and sparkles worn over black fishnet stockings. Click through to see all of her GMA performance looks in full detail. The album is available now on Amazon.com for $12.99.

Jessica Simpson Wants to Design Her Wedding Dress!

Mar 28, 2011 @ 4:48 pm

Pop-star-turned-fashion-mogul Jessica Simpson is ready for her next design challenge: creating her wedding dress! “I will be part of designing my own wedding gown,” she told WWD. Simpson and her fiancé, ex-NFL player Eric Johnson, got engaged last November, but they haven’t set a date yet. “We’ve both been married before. We’re enjoying our commitment to each other,” Simpson said. “We might elope.” The pair seems to favor a mix of dressy and casual looks when they go out (sky-high heels, oversize bags, and lots of sparkle for Simpson; dark denim, button-downs and bow ties for Johnson), so we’re excited to see them glammed up on their big day… whenever that may be! See more of the couple’s style moments in the gallery.
