It’s a British invasion! There are quite a few Brits we’re currently obsessed with—Kate Middleton, Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, and that’s just the start of our love list. That’s where British photographer Jason Bell comes in. The celebrity shooter just released An Englishman in New York, a collection of photographs of famous English citizens living in one of America’s most treasured cities. “There are 120,000 Englishmen living in New York,” said Bell. “I wanted to explore the ideas of ‘Why did I come here?’ and ‘What was I looking for?’” To do so, Bell shot 160 pages worth of celebrity, fashion, and beauty big names, including Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet (shown). Bell gave InStyle the exclusive inside scoop about some of the stylish Brits featured in his book, which is available now for $55 on Amazon.com. Click through the gallery to check it out.
Supermodel Kate Moss stars in the new short film for Dior’s Addict lipstick, which the luxury brand just released. The campaign was shot in Paris by director Jonas Akerlund, who also did the video for Britney Spears’s “Hold it Against Me” and Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” It shows Moss prepping for a fashion show, swiping on the lipstick, and facing a crowd of ravenous paparazzi. “Be iconic,” she encourages. The Addict Lipstick collection launched this month and features 56 creamy colors (shown inset; $28 each, Sephora.com)—more shades than any other Dior lipstick range. Before Elizabeth Taylor played Cleopatra or acted alongside Paul Newman in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, she was one of the most successful child stars of her time. Taylor lit up the screen in her first film, There’s One Born Every Minute, but it was her role as a girl jockey in National Velvet at age twelve that really launched her to fame. InStyle put together a gallery of some of the most iconic moments from Elizabeth Taylor’s child star days, including her famous violet eyes (shown in 1945), her appearance in Courage of Lassie, and her turn as Amy March in the 1949 adaptation of Little Women. Hilary Swank also braved the inclement Manhattan weather to show her love for Japan at a fundraising event. Even in typically sunny California, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and Emily Browning had to deal with a downpour as they walked the rain-soaked red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of Sucker Punch.
