Looking Back at Elizabeth Taylor’s 8 Wedding Moments

Mar 23, 2011 @ 6:11 pm

Elizabeth Taylor did everything big: diamonds, hair, and husbands! The actress was married eight times to seven men (she wedded and divorced Richard Burton twice, making him husband number five and six), and, in true movie star fashion, she commissioned a dramatic dress for each ceremony. See her wedding gowns, including the white off-the-shoulder number she wore for her 1950 wedding to Conrad “Nicky” Hilton (shown), the green, hooded gown she wore for marriage number four to singer Eddie Fisher in 1959, and the yellow chiffon frock she put on to say “I do” to Burton for the first time in 1964. InStyle Flashback: An Elizabeth Taylor Special in 2002

Mar 23, 2011 @ 4:25 pm

For InStyle’s October 2002 issue, the magazine ran a special exclusive 12-spread excerpt from Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry, a 240-page book she released that year, still available on Amazon.com. We dug up the insert (shown) and pulled some of the most memorable pages to show you here, as her name was as synonymous with Hollywood as it was with fine jewelry. “Conversation on today’s red carpet always includes the question, ‘Whose jewels are you wearing?’” said Hal Rubenstein, InStyle’s fashion director. “But Elizabeth Taylor believed that when you become a great star the answer should be ‘Mine!’ No one had a more glorious jewelry collection than Elizabeth Taylor.

Brooklyn Decker’s New Bob: The Inside Scoop!

Mar 23, 2011 @ 4:02 pm

When you’re a supermodel, down-to-there hair is almost a requirement. (Gisele Bundchen, Cindy Crawford and Christie Brinkley come to mind.) And up until Tuesday, Brooklyn Decker (shown) fit the bill. Not anymore! Yesterday, the 23-year-old Sports Illustrated model Tweeted a picture of a choppy, shoulder-length bob, courtesy of hairstylist Ted Gibson, who also works with Ashley Greene and Anne Hathaway. “Brooklyn felt like it was Spring and she was ready for a change,” he told InStyle exclusively. “She wanted something low maintenance that she could just wash and wear.” To get inspired for the cut, Gibson and Decker looked at pictures of Drew Barrymore and Polish model Anja Rubik. “From the first snip, Brooklyn was smiling and giddy about the change,” Gibson says. We can see why!

Mar 23, 2011 @ 1:50 pm

After creating her first collection of nail polishes last year, Serena Williams is back for round two! The tennis superstar—who recently made an amazing recovery after undergoing an emergency operation for a hematoma—will release four brand new shades for her O.P.I. Glam Slam! collection, just in time for this year’s French Open. The new lineup includes a silver hue named Spark de Triomph, a gold-flecked Rally Pretty Pink (inset), as well as a Shatter shade in new white and red variations, which produce an edgy, cracked effect. “Whether I’m on or off the court, style is important,” the tennis maven said in a statement. “The White Shatter and Red Shatter lacquers allow me to add a high-fashion take to the elegant silver and sunset-colored polishes.” Serena’s new Glam Slam! lineup is $15 for two polishes, and lands in stores May 1st.
