First Look: Claudia Schiffer’s Cozy Cashmere Clothing Line!

Mar 16, 2011 @ 5:09 pm

Claudia Schiffer
doesn’t just model clothes, she also designs them! The supermodel partnered with luxury German cashmere label Iris von Arnim (IvA) on a line of cozy knit separates, and she just released a first look of the lineup on British InStyle. “The idea of it is effortless chic—it’s based on my life and the clothes I need,” Schiffer said of the collaboration, Modelinia reports. “I have 15 minutes to get dressed in the morning before taking the children to school—I want to throw on clothes but still look chic, then I want to go from school to a meeting and then out for dinner by only changing a handbag or a necklace or something.” The line (inset) will be priced from $400 to $1,600 and hits shelves in July. Sign up to receive updates about the line closer to its release date on ClaudiaSchiffer.com.

The Bachelor’s Engagement Ring Features 264 Diamonds!

Mar 16, 2011 @ 4:30 pm

Brad Womack proposed to Emily Maynard on the season finale of The Bachelor this week with a ring designed by celebrity jeweler Neil Lane—and it’s a sparkler! Lane, whose A-list clientele includes Reese Witherspoon and Kate Hudson, told us that the 3-carat platinum bauble was “what Brad had always imagined.” “He wanted a soft romantic ring and we went through five of them, and he liked them but I could tell it wasn’t really there,” Lane said. “I had an intuitive feeling about what Brad would like, and when I brought the sixth one out, that was it!” Maynard also seems delighted with the ring, which features a cushion-cut diamond accentuated with 263 round, brilliant-cut diamonds. “She loved the ring she couldn’t be happier,” Lane told InStyle. “They’re very much in love, it was a lovefest, she loved it he loved it, he loved it on her.” The accessory cost $50,000, according to People, and Lane told us he’s designing something similarly sparkly for The Bachelorette, although he’s keeping the details under wraps for now. Mandy Moore: ‘I’d Be Terrified to Go on American Idol

Mar 16, 2011 @ 1:42 pm

While Mandy Moore performed at the Oscars this year, that doesn’t mean she’d want to sing on another highly-viewed television show. “I’d be terrified to go on American Idol,” the 26-year-old told us at a luncheon celebrating Kate Spade last week. She also told us that she doesn’t watch the hit show regularly, but will for special occasions. “I was an avid American Idol viewer a few seasons ago, but it’s hard to keep up. I watched the other night because one of the contestants covered one of my husband’s songs,” she said. The contestant was Alabama native Paul McDonald (inset), 26, who sang “Come Pick Me Up,” a tune by singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, Moore’s husband. “We wanted to watch that, and it was pretty neat to see.” So does a Ryan Adams cover mean she’ll be rooting for McDonald to win? “Sure, absolutely,” she confessed. “Why not?”

Fashion Gives Back to Japan: Find Out More!

Mar 16, 2011 @ 12:17 pm

Yesterday we rounded up some designers who launched fundraisers to benefit the victims of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, and today there’s more to add to the list! Coach, Alexis Bittar, Tadashi Shoji and CafePress will all be donating part of their proceeds to Japan’s relief efforts this month. Coach pledged to contribute 400 million yen (or about $5 million) to The Japanese Red Cross, while jewelry designer Alexis Bittar will donate 100 percent of all sales made on his website next week to the Catholic Relief Services for Japan. In addition, on March 24th, 100 percent of all retail sales at Bittar’s boutiques will be donated. Over the next 30 days, Tadashi Shoji is giving 10 percent of storewide sales to relief efforts, and CaféPress designed a special-edition T-shirt, the profits from which will be donated to the American Red Cross‘s Japan relief.
