Runway Looks We Love: Chanel
Mar 9, 2011 @ 1:28 pmKarl Lagerfeld’s Chanel fall 2011 collection was smoking, in a completely literal sense. A smoke print covered invitations, and once inside the Paris venue, the runway was set against a volcano backdrop. In turn, dark lava-inspired hues transpired on the runway—blacks, grays, and whites, as well as bursts of red, representing the collection’s eruption, perhaps. “This outstanding Chanel collection had a decidedly masculine bent,” InStyle‘s fashion director Cindy Weber Cleary reported from Paris. “The red cropped jacket seems to be layered over a black blazer, but in fact it’s one piece.” Jumpsuits were also popular, some even crafted in signature Chanel quilting, and there was also a heavy focus on trousers. Slouchy boots were paired with day and evening looks, as even the cocktail offering had a tough twist. Click through to see the entire Chanel fall 2011 runway show.
