Christian Cota fall fashion show

Christian Cota was inspired by a recent trip he took hiking Mt. Etna in Sicily for his fall 2011 collection. “It’s very warm at the top, but then when you go down and it’s so cold,” Cota told us backstage before the show. “So by the extreme in temperatures I was inspired.” The collection played off this hot-and-cold notion, layered with lots of neutral tones infused with shots of red, as well as tons of knits and furs—his first time venturing into fur territory (he used fox). As for his palette: “For the naturals and the reds and the colors, I was also inspired by climbing and what you see in the earth when you’re doing it.” He also said his prints were inspired by mountain animals.
