Runway Looks We Love: Prabal Gurung

Feb 12, 2011 @ 8:43 pm

“The collection is disheveled, but very chic,” designer Prabal Gurung told us after his fall 2011 runway show. “It’s controlled chaos, beautiful, and sophisticated.” Almost every model wore either short or long black leather gloves, creating uniformity against the bright pink hues and purple furs. Leather and lace details were also prominent, and the models’ hair offered another shot of color—each streaked with purple, pink, green or red. British footwear designer Nicholas Kirkwood created the shoes for the collection, MAC makeup artist Tom Pecheux painted faces, and Sally Hansen provided the black-to-white ombre manicures. From the coats made of shearling, leather, tweed, or neoprene to the wool dresses and kilts, rich texture was prominent throughout the Rag & Bone show. The bulk of the collection, designed by Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, had neutral palette with pops of oranges, blues, and plaids, offset by tons of polished layers to create a tough, sporty feel. The collection also included some must-have accessories, like utility bags, padded thigh-high socks, and platform buckle boots. QVC showed off its new celebrity collaboration lines last night at its 25th anniversary party during New York Fashion Week. Kim and Kourtney Kardashian stopped by to unveil their latest K-Dash by Kardashian line, their one Fashion Week appearance before heading to Los Angeles for the Grammys. “We’re wearing it tonight! I love it, it’s everything I would wear,” said Kim Kardashian. Also on hand at the presentation to show new bag lines: Camila Alves and Kelly Rutherford. “I have this bag in silver, taupe and black,” said Rutherford of the patent clutch she designed, which she carried on the red carpet to go with her Stella McCartney dress. “My daughter was wearing all of them tonight at home—I had to pull this one away from her to wear it! It’s even more of my favorite because of that.” See more celebrities at the QVC celebration in the gallery.

Gorgeous!” The designer also offered a slew of amazing coat options paired with great accessories—sunglasses, bags, and lace masks.
