The first day of New York Fashion Week is underway and the stars are out to celebrate. Nicole Richie showed off her House of Harlow collection at Bergdorf Goodman last night, Solange Knowles spun tunes at Macy’s Bar III pop-up shop, and Matthew McConaughey played cheerleader to wife Camila Alves at the Heart Truth’s Red Dress show. And, of course, the new fashion collections proved to be chic—painter-like prints popped at BCBG Max Azria, glitter eye makeup appeared at Vena Cava, and that’s not all. Runway Looks We Love: Vena Cava

Feb 10, 2011 @ 6:18 pm

Nineties music inspired Vena Cava designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock for their fall runway show. In particular: “Veruca Salt, Elastica, The Breeders, and a lot of Fiona Apple,” the pair told us backstage after the show. “We researched our playlist thoroughly and once we got it together, everything started to really gel and fall into place.” The result was a collection that played with proportion by including grunge-inspired long lengths paired with cropped tops, bold gold chokers and cuffs by Dannijo, and shoes by Tenoversix. Click through the gallery to see some of our top looks from the Vena Cava show.

Runway Looks We Love: Richard Chai Love

Feb 10, 2011 @ 5:01 pm

We loved the slouchy trousers and boyish touches at the Richard Chai Love fashion show. Bits of sparkle and floral popped among a generally-muted color palette, and Chai gave the collection more dimension with a mash-up of layers and textures, including skirts over pants and vests over coats. Click through the gallery to see some of our favorite looks from the Richard Chai Love show.

Runway Looks We Love: BCBG Max Azria

Feb 10, 2011 @ 4:06 pm

From languid layers to painterly prints, BCBG Max Azria‘s Fall 2011 collection was downright delicate.  The neutral palette mixed shades of pumice, mocha, and charcoal with shots of cobalt and bordeaux thrown into the mix. Many of the flowy looks were offset with beautifully structured clutches. Click through the gallery to see some of the looks we loved at the BCBG Max Azria show.

Michelle Obama Wears H&M

Feb 10, 2011 @ 11:55 am

Michelle Obama’s fashion choices are as stylish as they are practical. For her appearance on the Today Show yesterday, the First Lady wore a dress by H&M, which is available for $34.95 at the retail stores (inset). However, she didn’t just take it off the rack—she altered it to include sleeves (surprising, considering she loves to show off her arms!) and switched the tie belt to a thicker leather version. We last spotted Obama wearing H&M during the campaign trail in 2008, and since then she’s also worn lower-price labels like Target and Gap. Watch the video below to see the H&M dress in detail, as well as the First Lady’s complete interview.
