With Mila Kunis up for her first Best Supporting Actress nod at the Golden Globes this Sunday, all that excitement could get to a girl’s skin! No fear—Kunis’s esthetician, Scott-Vincent Borba (inset) has it under control. One of the ways he’s preparing Kunis is by testing his new, not-yet-available $7,000 facial named the HD Diamond and Ruby Peel on the Black Swan star. “I always do [this on] her skin, neck, décolleté, arms, and the back of her hands—anything that will be possibly showing with her dress,” Borba told InStyle.

This treatment actually uses the gemstones in its name; the rubies act as the antioxidant and the diamonds provide a topical sheen, and he tops it off with a peraffin silk fiber facial. Borba also has her suck on an ice cube during the process, a trick that helps decrease puffiness. “Mila is one of my muses,” said Borba, who also works with Ashley Greene and AnnaLynne McCord. “She’ll test my stuff before everyone else and give me feedback.” For tips on how to get the Golden Globes glow at home, check out Borba’s new book Skintervention.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Maybe not the stupidest but a really stupid stupid scam. All these things that the rich and famous are trying to do to make themselves better … bird poop, now diamonds. The gems don’t infiltrate the skin so my guess is that anything that is an exfoliant would work just as well. What happened to good old oatmeal, arm and hammer, avocado, almond and honey masks, etc.

Now I’m rambling – but the point is….

talk about indulgent when so many people are struggling out there. I get that people have money and I don’t hold it against them…but when they are throwing it away like paper to a fire…well, it makes me sad that they could have taken that money, bought a regular kit like the average person to exfoliate and donated the money. Just my humble opinion.

And for the record, I have always liked Kunis’s work but geez.

Huh? $7,000? Well I think that Mila Kunis and other celebs will be the only guinea pigs since that’s ridiculously priced!

I’ll stick with my $170 facial thank you very much.

I agree Trish.

For that price, she should have invested in a rhinoplasty instead!

-Erin on January 14th, 2011

I hope they get to keep the rubies and diamonds afterwards…nothing else could justify the price..

-Jennifer on January 14th, 2011

I can only think of one word for that…RIDICULOUS!!!

Um… people starve for lack of this kind of money; people are also regularly enslaved mining for diamonds and other gemstones. How about a teeeeeensy bit of social responsibility Borba, et al. I mean… really? Is it THAT much more effective than a regular sugar/sand/salt scrub? I’M embarrassed for YOU.

Erin, I think she already had a (subtle) rhinoplasty – at least that’s the consensus. (just google.)

-Kara on January 17th, 2011

i’ll give her a free facial.

“Peraffin”?? Really? Spell check not working?

-frogprof on July 6th, 2011

An all natural treatment with African herbs will cost less than $50. Diamonds cut glass, not sure I would want it on my face.
