Kanye West’s Couture Cover Art

Kanye West expresses his love of fashion in interesting ways: The rapper tapped Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci to design the cover art for his new song, “H.A.M.” (above), the first single off his new album Watch the Throne. You’ll notice the artwork includes crowns, stars and daggers, common themes in the designer’s clothing, as shown here on Tisci (center, with Ciara and West), in his jewelry and on the runway (seen at the Givenchy fall 2010 ready-to-wear show at right). Could this be a sign that we’ll hear a shout-out to Tisci in West’s next song? The track, which features Jay-Z, drops tomorrow.

Jan 10, 2011 @ 4:23 pm

Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William attended their friend’s wedding on Saturday in England, and the Princess-to-be chose a a black velvet dress by Libélula for the event. She brightened the look with splashes of royal purple on her fold-over clutch and shoes, and we love how the plum pumps featured a bow-tied ribbon detail on the pointed toe. Wondering where you can snag your own pair of violet heels? Click through the gallery to see some of our favorite similar styles.

Kate Walsh Shows Off Genetic Denim’s First Collaboration Line

Jan 10, 2011 @ 12:04 pm

Genetic Denim launched its first collaboration line recently, partnering with Nevena Borissova (inset), owner of the popular Curve boutiques in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, for a six-piece collection. The items, which she developed with the label’s creative director Ali Fatourechi, capture a popular trend on the spring runways: Seventies separates. “It is refreshing and light, and provides a nice contrast to the more dramatic looks we see throughout fall,” said Borissova of the trend. This is proven in her line, which includes a denim skirt, shirt, belted shirtdress, quilted corset top, cropped jean and bell bottoms (as seen on Kate Walsh). More

Golden Globes Gowns We’d Love to See

Jan 10, 2011 @ 10:30 am

Golden Globe nominees are finalizing their last dress picks this week before the big show on Sunday, January 16th, and we can’t wait to see what they’re going to wear! That’s why we dreamed up our wish list of gowns we’d love to see hit the red carpet. For example, Best Actress nominee Halle Berry favors body-conscious gowns like this single-shoulder jersey gown from Alberta Ferretti, hence our pick for this Atelier Versace design. Its illusion bodice gives a nod to her peek-a-boo Elie Saab Oscar gown, while the bright white shade complements her caramel complexion. See Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Lea Michele and more in our InStyle Golden Globe Gown Predictions.
